Ocean Sole turn flip-flops into art and functional products. By creating these masterpieces, they are sending a message about how we can help our planet, our oceans and people. They create beautiful art that portrays an important message about the state of our oceans. The Watamu Marine Association collect plastic bottles and turn them into bricks and many other useful things.

Turtles

There are lots of coast residents up and down our beautiful coastline who volunteer their time looking after our turtles. Every year about 200 turtles lay their nests on our beaches. They often get caught up in nets and swallow plastic. Their eggs are stolen by the fishermen, eaten by red ants and more. There are groups of residents up and down the coast who volunteer their time and raise money to clean the beaches, protect the turtles and their nests. Here are some of them.

THE MAP

On Friday 12 June 2020, Peponi Year 8s teamed up and took par t in the very first Vir tual Rhino Charge. They had to name their teams and draw their cars. The Clerk of the Course, Mr. Levitan then gave the teams their map and they had to plot the control points and find the shor test route around all control points. While the Of ficials were marking the routes, Mr. Lambrechts, CEO of Rhino Ark, talked to the children about the work Rhino Ark does to conserve Kenya’s Water Towers. It was a great event and the teams all did an amazing job, well done Peponi Year 8!
