The Epoxy Alternative
no mixing ~ no waste ~ time to manipulate ~ stronger ~ no yellowing!
Let’s Create a Scud
Lay down a thread base, secure lead weight, & wire rib
Make a dubbing loop (or hand-twist) & dub the fur (or substitute) to just short of the hook eye
Wrap the copper rib & tie off at the eye – break rib off by bending it back and forth. Whip finish
Trim the dorsal surface smooth with fine scissors & brush or pickout the fibers (legs)
Apply a small drop of Core to the dorsal surface, spread it in an even coat & cure with light.
Do not remove the slippery bonding layer. The Core won’t absorb into the fibers very deep.
Apply a small amount of Finish
Turn the fly upside down (creates a hump as the finish droops). Cure when desired shape is achieved
Remove the slippery bonding layer with paper towel and alcohol
Apply a coat of Hard as Nails if a gloss finish is desired
