ANNEKE SILVER RIVERS UN-CUT
1 A P R I L – 1 M AY 2 0 1 6 PERC TUCKER REGIONAL GALLERY
This exhibition celebrates the complete abandon and freedom revealed in the shapes of our rivers seen from the air. Many carve their shapes ‘uncut’, while also creating the patterns and textures around them… Mother Nature’s scribble pad! To recreate that naturalness Silver has taken an experimental approach, working on a large scale with the interaction and flow of different media, fluids and paints. The works provide space to comtemplate the destruction of environment and Indigenous culture. Anneke SILVER After the rain Bohle River [detail] oil on canvas 120 x 180 cm

LIFE AND LAUGHS HEB : A RETROSPECTIVE 1 5 J U LY - 2 1 A U G U S T 2 0 1 6 PINNACLES GALLERY
HEB is a major retrospective of the works of acclaimed political cartoonist Bob Hebden. A Townsville local, HEB created over 4,000 cartoons during his lifetime, many of which were published in the Townsville Advertiser, and Townsville Sun for a period spanning four decades. HEB’s cartoons regularly delighted readers (and occasionally sparked controversy), as he turned his undoubted talent as a draughtsman and acerbic humour to local and national issues and events, identities and sporting teams. This exhibition is made possible thanks to the generosity of HEB’s family, who have kindly loaned his original illustrations and paintings
