A New Program Is Planting Seeds With Youth Looking For A Career In The Outdoors

High school students on the Sunshine Coast can now apply for a unique five-day work experience program offered by the Sunshine Coast Council Parks and Gardens Branc.

The program is designed for students in Years 10, 11, and 12 who want to gain onthe-job skills and experience in six key career fields, including horticulture, arboriculture, and infrastructure maintenance.

The program also offers opportunities for students to learn about administration and nursery operations.

They will gain basic technical skills within their chosen field while learning about the various parks and gardens-related professions.

At the end of the program, students will receive a certificate of completion, along with transferable skills like technical, communication, and teamwork.

The program aims to help high school students make informed decisions about their future and explore potential careers in the great outdoors.
