Ahoy there, explorers! Final - USE THIS ONE
Over two thirds of the world is covered by oceans and rivers. That’s a lot of water. So we’ve created a safe, comfortable and exciting way to explore it: Adventure Cruising. My family has been involved with small ships since 1968, long before I was born. My whole life, the sea has been my home away from home; I have never imagined a holiday without thinking of the blue waters of the Mediterranean or turquoise colours of the Seychelles. I’ve worked in the industry for the past five years, and this year started working with Peregrine, to help them become a leader in Adventure Cruising. Peregrine Adventure Cruising is a premium travel experience for open-minded, curious explorers seeking adventure at sea. This isn’t your typical cruise. We travel with under 50 passengers, not 5000. There are no onboard casinos or pools; we prefer to spend our time exploring port towns and swimming off the side of the ship. The only thing you’ll have in common with a big cruise is you’ll only need to unpack your suitcase once. Our journeys feature destination-driven itineraries, friendly guides and onboard experts, specialist talks and activities, and authentic, non-intrusive cultural interactions. While we visit some well-known landmarks, we also veer off the beaten waves to secluded ports, islands and beaches. Adventure means exploration and discovery, but it can also involve a sense of familiarity and comfort. Aboard our wide selection of sea-going vessels, passengers are treated to excellent service from an attentive crew, as well as fresh, locally inspired food and wine. We want you to experience a destination through your eyes, ears and taste-buds. It’s Adventure Cruising at its finest! Last – but certainly not least – we remain faithful to our promise of sustainability by carbon offsetting our trips through renewable energy projects. Like a refined wine or whiskey, we’ve got Adventure Cruising down to an art. Let us handle the details – all you have to do is come aboard and enjoy. This is your porthole to the world. Imagine the possibilities. Carpe mare.

It’s all about the destination Unlike conventional big ship cruising, which is all about life on the boat, Adventure Cruising is about the destination: stopping at little islands big ships can’t reach, exploring local markets and trying fresh produce, learning a place’s history and culture from local guides who know it best. SAIL UNCHARTED WATERS
A GREENER WAY TO CRUISE
When it comes to cruising, bigger is not necessarily better. While mega liners are very restricted in their routes and itineraries, a smaller ship means we can dock in out-of-the-way ports and drop anchor wherever we want. Instead of mooring out to sea, pull up right in the centre of town. Stroll on and off the boat whenever you like (very handy when you forget your sunglasses). And if some idyllic, sun-soaked cove appears off the starboard bow, we can spontaneously stop for a swim.
‘Sustainable cruising’ might seem like a contradiction in terms, given the history of the big mega liners. But it’s a side of the industry we want to change. Small ships are a greener alternative to a traditional cruise: they’re gentle on local communities and much better for the environment. Our boats generate less waste, have a smaller footprint, and don’t overwhelm small port towns with thousands of travellers all at once. Each departure has also been carbon offset by a range of renewable energy initiatives.
A PERSONAL TOUCH
ACTIVITIES ON BOARD
Travel with 30–50 passengers, not 3000, and get a more personal level of service. By the end of the trip, the waiters know how you take your coffee, and your Cruise Coordinator greets you by name. They’re little things, but they make all the difference. Meanwhile, you’ve got a team of local guides for optional land excursions, a team of chefs, waiters and room service staff, plus a captain and crew to handle the running of the boat. We want your crew to feel like your family. Make the most of the ‘open bridge’ policy and pay the captain a visit.
You won’t find casinos, bowling alleys or nightclubs on any of our small ships. In fact we don’t even have an onboard swimming pool. But who needs chlorine when you’ve got the glittering waters of the Adriatic on your doorstep? All our ships have either a platform or a ladder at the back of the boat for easy access, and some cruises have snorkelling gear and kayaks. If swimming’s not your thing, we recommend a cocktail and good book on the sun deck. It does wonders.
HOME SWEET HOME LOCAL FLAVOURS We’re a big believer in travelling on our stomachs, and each cruise’s onboard menu is tailored to reflect your destination. Cruising in Greece? Snack on grilled octopus and dolmades. In Spain it’s fresh paella and crispy patatas bravas. All our trips come with either half or full-board, plus on most an unforgettable ‘Local Night’ where your chefs will whip up a feast of regional fare (bring your dancing shoes). While onshore, your Cruise Coordinator or local leader knows the best spots for local fare.
There’s something nice about coming back to your cabin after a full turndown service and seeing the little mint on your pillow. It almost guarantees a good night’s sleep. Small ship cabins are roomy and comfortable, usually in either a twin or double configuration, and all come with ensuites. There’s air-conditioning if you need to cool down, turndown twice a day, and a fully equipped laundry service. It’s essentially staying in a 4-star hotel. Most rooms have key safes for valuables, and all cabins are lockable. peregrineadventures.com // 3
Explore Our World There’s a lot we’re excited about this year, and with Peregrine Adventure Cruising still in its early days, the new destinations keep on coming, from Mostar to Tangier to the Westfjords of Iceland. Whether it’s a journey to the tobacco fields of Cuba, or a detour down the Dalmatian coast, each adventure combines nature and culture, leisure and activity.

Set sail for Iceland’s best-kept secret – the unspoiled Westfjords. A truly extreme land of towering mountains, sleepy fishing villages, soaring cliffs and mythic Viking sagas. Cruise craggy inlets shadowed by volcanic peaks, visit sublime waterfalls, walk a red-sand beach and dock in ports flanked by towering fjords.
Sitting off the east coast of Africa in the middle of the Indian Ocean, this group of islands is the poster image for paradise. Cruise to islands both inhabited and uninhabited, walk through mangrove forests that house giant tortoises, explore World Heritage nature reserves and relax on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Cuba’s soft and faded facade only adds to its charm. This old soul of an island has many rewards in store for the curious traveller. Give the salsa a go in Havana, see how those famous Cuban cigars are made in the picturesque tobacco fields of Vinales Valley, and drop anchor in the impossibly beautiful town of Cienfuegos.

Welcome to Peregrine Adventure Cruising Cruise the glittering waters of Croatia, Greece, or Spain, Portugal and Morocco on Peregrine’s newest premium adventure style. Along with a small group of travellers, join your Peregrine local leader, captain and experienced crew. While you’ll enjoy the same level of inclusions as a regular Peregrine tour – like winery tours and cooking classes – you’ll also have time to relax and do things at your own pace. Think of it as a classic Peregrine journey – but at sea! 6 // peregrineadventures.com
Local-led onshore excursions On Peregrine’s charter cruises, we often dock overnight so you can enjoy the nightlife and flavour of each port, with the freedom to return to the boat at your leisure. Or we may sail overnight so you can spend more time exploring our next port of call. It’s all about making the most of your journey. Included in the trip price are land excursions with our expert local leaders. These allow you to gain a deeper insight into the places we visit. They’ll take you to the big sites, like Granada’s Alhambra Palace or Plitvice Lakes National Park, but also to meet local artisans and to secret spots that are rich in history. Local knowledge is a blessing when it comes to things like food. Not only might you enjoy a beach barbecue, picnic, onboard feast or cooking demonstration, you’ll also get advice on where to find the best local cuisine. Travelling in small groups of just 16-20 people means you’ll get more attentive service and insider tips from your leader. It’s all part of the personal touch – just like the wine and fruit basket you receive on arrival.
