Inspired by the ports and maritime warehouses, and the work and life of artisanal fishermen, the creative team of Studio Felipe Villaveces emphasizes architectural gestures that go back to this type of places and activities. Handcrafted white custom made tiles for the project, which respond to the functionality of the fishmongers, metallic structures painted in black, metallic meshes that refer to fishing nets, white granite floors and Canadian pine finishes, establish a Contemporary maritime speech characteristic of the brand.

In the main hall, the fresh fish fridge next to the lamps woven with natural fibers, by the Spanish designer Álvaro Catalán de Ocón and the interior tropical vegetation, are part of a set of elements of the fishing culture that transport the consumer to places related to the gastronomic offer of the restaurant. The metal screens that delimit the spaces, carry boards with advertising material, showing the menu, poetic phrases of high seas, hammered glass and metallic meshes.

Opposite the garden of tropical plants and wild orchids, you will find the partially covered kitchen with a downstairs pantry and a sofa lit by lamp posts inspired by fishing rod s . Th e fa ç ad e is covered with roller blinds made of natural wood and the roof sieves the light entrance with solid pine crossbeams that expose the concrete beams and the installation piping giving an industrial air to the intervention.

Inspired by a maritime warehouse, the project simulates a quiet, but forceful intervention in its architecture, tracing the client to the fishing industrial environment. With a New York air the highlights of the project are their black lamps in row, their great menu board and the structure taken off above the sushi bar. Being Market and Restaurant, one of the challenges was to incorporate the two uses, with architectonical strategies aiming commercial success.

Like a vanilla and chocolate cake, the chic monochrome becomes visible in the interior design of Picaflor Av19. With the intention of creating a young, current and classic architectural language, several aspects of the European classic bakeries, mixed with interventions in lighting and furniture of the contemporary cafés, were taken up in the conceptualisation of the design. With a calm and welcoming colour palette, the project highlights the concept of “the third place”. The project was published in the AXXIS Magazine of Architecture and catalogued as one of the best retail designs of 2015.

One of the strategies was to highlight the bakery product with dark furniture in black French Oak. As well as white lighting, which stands out with the ceiling in absolute black and woodwork in Canadian Pine and natural French Oak. In the coffee bar stand out the black and white tiles and the monolithic Counter.
