Hi, Whitney, A timeline sets you up for success on many different levels and keeps everyone on track. It is a tool used to ensure that food and staff are ready on time and that everything gets done on your day without feeling rushed or scripted. Your vendors are also asking for a timeline, not only so they know when and where they are supposed to be, but also so they can have a clear picture of what to expect on the day of the wedding. It outlines your event with a beginning, a middle and an end. Reviewing a timeline can expose any “red flags” regarding adequate timing for “real time” tasks. Your vendors are looking out for you! If issues are corrected before the wedding, this can save you the stress of real time editing and overtime rates with your vendors. Be sure that you keep your reception at 3 – 4 hours so your guests leave on a “high” when they walk away! - Robyn

The wedding industry is highly competitive and is saturated with “hobbyists” who, sometimes, take advantage of an unaware market. Weddings are usually held on weekends. So mathematically, professionals only have the opportunity to work a maximum of 52 times a year. Realistically, the number is probably closer to 20 – 35 times, depending upon the service they offer. For this reason, a non-refundable retainer is required by most professionals to “hold the date,” which protects them from lost revenue resulting from cancelled, postponed or rescheduled events and prospective clients who are not viable. 72

Service fees should be based on experience, expertise and talent. Beyond that, clients might not realize is that they are not just paying for a service. They are also paying for the “wizard behind the curtain.” Your photographer and videographer are not just taking pretty pictures. There are hours invested in editing and designing albums and films that tell the story of your day. For other vendors, much time is involved in tasks such as loading trucks, delivery, set-up, tear down, load-out (really late at night), cleaning, inventory and restocking. Lastly, the high level of customer service each vendor should provide, obliges charging enough to cover the stress and necessary staffing required to support clients through a detail oriented and emotional process. Professionals often must rely on qualified staff members who can “pinch hit” for them so they are able to provide quality service in real time on someone’s wedding day. The bottom line is that true professionals recognize the significance of the day and the fact that there are no second chances. They are dedicated people who have 73

atasha asked for a non-traditional, glamourous wedding with a nod to her Persian heritage. This bride was so much fun, so open and so sweet! It was easy to grasp what her vision was because, she was abundantly clear about what she wanted and exuded confidence and poise. What a delight! In her honor, we 101

Then came the curve ball! She wanted to make a nod to her groom and his obsession with Storm Troopers! The obvious choice, of course, was to bring Storm Troopers in as servers for the late night snack served during the Wedding Day Edit by Von Wedding Films at the end of the night. From the Sofreh Table to the Storm Trooper cuff links, no small detail was overlooked to personalize and brand this wedding as one of a kind, for Natasha and Shane only.

ur wedding was the most incredible night of my life! I had the honor of working with the top wedding professionals and vendors, who truly made my dreams of a royal Persian wedding come to life. Robyn Martin with The Wedding Belle was my fairy Godmother. This wedding planner extraordinaire took care of every detail, and used her expertise to turn a ballroom into a princess’s dream! We received the royal treatment for our big day at the beautiful Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City. The staff truly catered to our every desire, and the venue speaks for itself. For photography, we chose Traina Photography. These photographers have such an incredibly unique style. They took our vision and elevated them in photography. Von Wedding Films took care of our wedding film. I felt like I was watching my very own Hollywood film! The perfect florals were created by Camden Chitwood for Emerson Events. She took all my ideas and brought them alive in a floral vision. For an over the top, delicious cake we went to Stacie’s Cake. She delivered a gold adorned cake taller than me! Setting the mood with our lighting, was the amazing team at Innovative Event Solutions. The lighting chosen made all the difference at our wedding. Formal table settings fit for royalty, were created by Marianne’s Rentals for Special Events. Ideas In Ice surprised the Groom with an amazing Strom Trooper Ice sculpture for cocktail hour. Q. Where Can I get My License? A. At your court clerk’s office. Most are open Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm, although hours may vary by county. Check with your court clerk’s office to find out their hours.

How Long is My License Valid Prior to My Wedding Date?

Your marriage license will be valid for 10 days after it is issued. You are then required to return the signed license for recording within 5 days of your wedding date.

Court clerks also recommend that you and your fiancé sign the marriage license before the witnesses sign. The witnesses sometimes sign on the wrong lines, so having the bride and groom sign first will prevent this from happening. If you return your signed marriage license in person after the wedding, you may be able to receive your personal copies immediately instead of having to wait at least two weeks for the court clerk to process.

How Soon Can I Get Married After I Receive My License?

No waiting period is required except for those under the age of 18. If you are under age 18, there is a 72-hour waiting period.

The photographer described it best by saying this event was a glamorous barn wedding. From the gold accents to the twinkle lights, Rachel and Paul’s wedding had every ounce of glam mixed in the rustic backdrop. The Attire: The bridesmaids were dressed in beautiful pale pink chiﬀon gowns, while the groomsmen all looked dapper in suits from Men’s Wearhouse. As an added touch, the bride attached her grandmother’s brooch to her bridal bouquet. The Scene: Rachel and Paul exchanged vows in front of several family and friends on that June 26th afternoon. As the ceremony drew to an end, the Oklahoma skies delivered one incredible sunset before the couple and their guests entered the reception space.

With the ever growing popularity of Instagram, it is no surprise that many couples are creating hashtags for their wedding guests to use on the big day. Doing so allows the attendees to not just watch, but be a part of your wedding. But the real question is, how do you create a wedding hashtag? One that everyone will be able to type in - whether tipsy or not - and one that has not been used before. Simple. Follow these quick tips: 158

USE YOUR NAMES. Sure there may be several Jim and Johns out there, but using your name is just the first part of the equation. THROW IN A WEDDING WORD. It’s obviously your wedding day, so why not use a word that identifies it. Words like: Hitch, Wed, Tie the Knot, I Do, Wedding, etc. ALLITERATIONS ARE FUN. And simple to remember. Use something like #HarrisonsGetHitched or #WildWilsonWedding. SPRUCE IT UP WITH A RHYME. Consider your names and if they rhyme with any wedding related words. Is your new last name going to be Stewart? Shorten it a bit and go with #StewPartyof2. WE LOVE TO BE PUNNY. Think about using an idiom or a common phrase in your hashtag. You can switch out a specific word with your name to get the punny in there. KEEP IT SWEET. Sure you could use something like #StephanieMarriesDanielCrowder as your hashtag, but it’s better to keep your hashtag short and sweet. Doing so will eliminate any guests from making any grammatical errors when entering it in. This doesn’t mean you can’t use your names. But consider using #StephWedsDan16 instead. GO TO THE SOURCE. Once you’ve come up with the perfect hashtag, log in to Instagram and check it out. This will confirm that your creative genius is all yours! SPREAD THE WORD. One thing to keep in mind once you’ve selected your perfect wedding hashtag, is to make it known to your guests. Add it to your wedding invitations, on your wedding website and place signs around your venues.
