We set up a 1 hour consultation meeting with her to finesse her ideas, allocate her budget for each category and help design her beautiful wedding day. Adesola & her Fiance Edmund wanted an intimate outdoor wedding so we decided to use the beautiful 2-in-1 venue in Baltimore; Clyburn Arboretum. The weather was perfect for a Friday wedding in the spring of 2015. We worked with our top notch vendors and the day was everything the couple had dreamed their wedding day would be. 21

Same paragraph - “They are everywhere we look on social media! A huge moment that you want to share that is guaranteed to get the most likes, but who’s counting? When it comes to ring selfies we’ve seen them all. The good, the bad, and the ugly! Whether is was chipped polish, awful cuticles or bad lighting. To ensure you get those likes, we want you to share your most amazing ring selfie.”

37

NOW THAT YOU’VE SPREAD THE NEWS TO YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS AND FAMILY, IT’S TIME TO TELL THE WORLD ABOUT YOUR ENGAGEMENT! GET THE BEST ENGAGEMENT RING SELFIE WITH THESE

12 TIPS: For more info and tips, visit http://bit.ly/1U7pdG9

38

1 GET YOUR RING CLEANED.

It’s new and and you want it to be perfect. Make that baby shine and sparkle it up with home jewelry cleaner.

39

2 TREAT YOURSELF TO A MANICURE.

40

You don’t want to give your hand a close up when you have hangnails! If you don’t have time for a manicure before your ring selfie, rub some lotion and get creative when hiding your fingernails. Holding hands with your new fiancé is an easy go-to pose.

ENGAGEMENT MANICURES

3 POSE.

BACKGROUND.

Make it interesting and keep it fresh and clean! If he proposed in the snow, having a snowy background will make your ring pop and jaws drop! If you got caught up in excitement during the proposal and didn’t snap a picture then use a fun, patterned pillow or window looking outdoors.

The more natural the better! Relax and don’t hyperextend your fingers. Celebrate and take a picture with a glass of wine, hold some flowers, or your new fiancé’s arm! The possibilities are endless. Get in touch with your inner photographer!

4 41

5

LIGHTING.

Avoid fluorescent lighting and be in natural sunlight. Get near a window or go outside to capture the perfect shot.

6 REMOVE OTHER JEWELRY.

42

Let your new ring take center stage! This is one of the most special pieces of jewelry you will ever get in your life so show it off and don’t let your other rings get in the way!

7

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FOCUS, NO ZOOM.

Getting closer to your ring with the camera will make it less blurry than using your zoom. If you plan on using your iPhone camera, focus the lens by tapping the screen before snapping the picture.

43

8 44

EDITING. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Play with the contrast and sharpness before adding too many ďŹ lters to catch every spec of sparkle. Playing with photo editing apps like VSCO Cam and Afterlight will make your ring look nothing short of perfect.

9

NO FLASH.

Just don’t do it.

10 PERFECT ANGLE.

Try avoiding angles where you catch every pore on your hand along with every strand of hair. Also, if there is something special about your ring on the side or under the setting, make sure to capture it. Show everyone what’s unique about your bling. 45

11 INCLUDE YOUR GROOM.

This is a new step in your relationship with your new groom. Show the love between the newly engaged.

12 ONE PHOTO PLEASE.

46

Of course everyone is excited for you but no one wants 25 pictures of your ring on their newsfeed. Take as many photos as you feel needed of your ring, but keep the posts on social media to a minimum.

SONGS The list of songs used on your wedding day might be longer than you think. If you have a couple that inspires you, consider borrowing the song that the bride walked down the aisle to or the couple’s first dance song. This will make the couple reminisce about their wedding day while attending yours.

58

Rachel Robertson Photography

VOWS It could be your mom and dad or a close family friend that inspires you. Ask to borrow their vows. Spice it up and add some of words of your own too! If you are wanting to write your own vows or have traditional ones, borrowing lines from a loved one’s vows and writing it on your wedding decor could be an option for you.

59

Kate Preftakes Photography

WEDDING DRESS OR VEIL A very traditional bride might consider wearing a wedding dress passed down to her. If you don’t have your hands on someones dress, borrow a veil. Maybe one of your bridesmaids or has gotten married and you could borrow hers. Most likely their veil is sitting in a closet or attic. This is a very nice gesture and will make whoever you ask feel special on your wedding day. (It will also save you some money too!) 60

are among the most fun wedding elements to shop for, especially if you get to taste them ďŹ rst. Most couples start by browsing social media and the internet for photos of cakes they like. This is a great way to get inspiration! As you’re browsing, here are a few things you need to know to guide you towards choosing the perfect wedding cake for you.

67

Will Pursell Photography

68

Most of the photos you’ll see are of cakes covered in fondant. In order to achieve the perfectly smooth exteriors shown in most wedding cake photos, bakers use fondant…a pasty, doughy type of icing made of sugar and water that can be dyed and rolled out, then placed on top of the cake. It’s very difficult to achieve this same smooth look with buttercream. The decorations you see on wedding cakes are often made of fondant, too.

69

Lefebvre Photo

70

and thus more expensive. On average, you’ll pay about two to three times more for fondant than you will for buttercream. If you’re looking for something budget-friendly, stick with buttercream.

71

Bailey Roberts Photography

72

Fondant doesn’t have the best flavor (though flavoring can be added to it). The texture is often seen as off-putting as well. If you’re more interested in the flavor of your cake than its design, you’ll probably want to opt for buttercream.

73

Carrie Wildes Photography

74

If you absolutely must have the smooth and polished exterior of a fondant cake but you want your guests to enjoy the avor of buttercream, ask your baker to put a thick layer of buttercream between the cake and the layer of fondant. That way when guests peel o the fondant, they will still have the buttercream icing to enjoy.

75

Gian Carlo Photography

76

Regardless of which type of icing you choose, you can enhance the overall flavor of your cake with a delicious filling. Some popular options are buttercream, fruit filling, and mousse.

77

Rennard Photography

78

about your options, and participate in a tasting if at all possible. That way you can be sure you and your guests will enjoy eating your cake as much as looking at it!

Couples used to take formal, posed engagement photos to post in the local newspaper beside their engagement announcement. While some couples still do this today, the nature of engagement photos has changed a lot over the years. Nowadays engagement photos are infused with creativity and personality, and they’ve become almost as important as the wedding photos themselves. With some help from talented wedding photographer Tab McCausland, we’ve put together 11 tips you need to know before you schedule your engagement photo shoot:

95

96

Start with your wedding photographer. Many wedding photographers oer a special rate on engagement shoots if you’ve already booked their services for your wedding day. This can be a great budget saver and you already know you like their work since you hired them for you big day.

97

98

Pick a setting that suits your personalities. Tab McCausland recommends choosing a location that ts your personality. If you hate snakes, dirt, and basically anything outside, then you shouldn’t choose the woods for your engagement location. Are you both sports fans? Go to a local stadium. Did you meet at a carnival or fair? See if there’s one happening near you. Feel free to be creative!

99

100

Relax. The most successful photos will feature the two of you in the most natural poses possible. In order to achieve that, you have to relax and (did we mention this?) have fun!

101

102

Feel free to use signage. You can do a lot with props, including things like chalkboard signs that say, “I’m marrying him/her” or your wedding date.

103

104

Consider hiring a stylist. This is another wonderful suggestion by Tab. As she points out, there are very few times in your life when you can justify hiring a professional to style you out. Your engagement photo session is one of them! Maybe have your wedding hair and makeup trial run on the day of your engagement shoot.

105

106

Have a theme and relay this to your photographer. This is another helpful tip by Tab. Having a plan for what you want your ďƒžnished product to look like will ensure you will like the end result.

107

108

Choose the right time of day. Most professional photographers will tell you that the best time of day for photos is about an hour before sunset.

109

110

Get a good number of shots. Even if you have an idea for the perfect pose in your head, allow your photographer to take a variety of poses. You never know‌you may decide that you like a picture that you didn’t ever anticipate.

111

112

Figure out what you want to do with your photos. Are you planning to publish a photo in the local paper? If so, ďƒžnd out the required dimensions for the photo. You could also use them for your Save the Dates, social media banners, and for creating keepsakes.

113

114

PDA may be required. Engagement photos are meant to reďƒ&#x;ect your love for each other. It’s likely your photographer will request that you kiss, hug, and get close and comfortable for your photos.

115

116

Style of dress varies. Consider the environment and your level of comfort when deciding how you want to be dressed in your engagement photos. There isn’t a right or wrong here…so wear what suits you. Tab did caution, however, that you don’t want to wear outts that clash.

117

118

Thanks again Tab for your helpful insights and the beautiful images you shared with us. We’re sure everyone will find these tips handy as they plan their engagement photo sessions!

Rachel & Paul

The photographer described it best by saying this event was a glamorous barn wedding. From the gold accents to the twinkle lights, Rachel and Paul’s wedding had every ounce of glam mixed in the rustic backdrop. The Attire: The bridesmaids were dressed in beautiful pale pink chiffon gowns, while the groomsmen all looked dapper in suits from Men’s Wearhouse. As an added touch, the bride attached her grandmother’s brooch to her bridal bouquet. The Scene: Rachel and Paul exchanged vows in front of several family and friends on that June 26th afternoon. As the ceremony drew to an end, the Oklahoma skies delivered one incredible sunset before the couple and their guests entered the reception space.

choose to tie the knot away from home and the trend is only growing. Although planning a wedding from afar may seem like a headache, we’re here to tell you that may not always be the case!

137

While all venues are beautiful, there’s nothing like having your wedding pictures taken in a unique locale. Somewhere that sparks conversation above and beyond “hey I’ve been to a million weddings there!

138

Your mom wants to invite your great-aunt twice removed and your in-laws are insisting that you invite a step-cousin’s wife’s sister. Before you reach for that second glass of wine, take a second and consider the ease of planning a destination wedding and the smaller guest list that comes with it.

139

At some point in the planning process, every bride wakes up in a cold sweat from a nightmare about bridesmaid dresses. Will everyone like them? Does the color match the napkins? Will they truly get to wear them again? Destination weddings typically mean a smaller wedding party, which means fewer decisions (or nightmares!) for you in the fashion department.

You’re already there! Quite literally, your honeymoon will start the second you step away from your reception. Spend your wedding night walking on the beach or taking in some nightlife - there’s no need to stress about transportation back to the hotel and preparing for your impending honeymoon trip. Let’s also not forget that many wedding destinations have great deals on wedding and honeymoon packages!

140

Whether trying the knot in Italy, Hawaii or Mexico, you will always have a special place to retreat to for anniversaries, vow renewals, or just a romantic vacation together.

A destination wedding may not be for every couple, but there are a lot of pros to consider when making the decision. Learn more by visiting http://bit.ly/1YXGL8P 141

Signature drinks are a fun and easy way to give your wedding a dash of individuality. As this option tends to be more budget friendly than others, more and more couples are now opting to skip the full bar altogether and instead showcase his or hers signature cocktails.

These are Something New for I Do’s top reasons to love signature drinks: Signature drinks help tie in your theme and add a trendy flare.

If your wedding is focused on a color palette rather than a theme, a great way to bring your palette full circle is selecting drinks by color, using glassware or garnishes that compliment your color choices. If you are having a brunch time wedding, consider having a bacon infused Bloody Mary served in a seasoned rimmed mason jar.

Choosing a signature drink over a full bar can help you save tremendously.

A well thought out bar with one or two signature drink options is a lot more cost effective than a fully stocked bar. Aside from the cost of liquor liability insurance and whatever fees your venue requires for bar service or BYOB packages, costs can quickly add up. When you opt for one or several cocktails, you’ll notice that you budget goes much further.

Your guests will love trying something new.

Do you have a signature sangria recipe? Or is there a new cocktail you and your fiancé have started making? You guests will love the opportunity to try new drinks without going out and purchasing them. You can even have non-alcoholic varieties for the youngsters. It is important to make your wedding as unique as you are, and the signature drink is one of the best ways to do it. Now it’s time to get creative! With the ever growing popularity of Instagram, it is no surprise that many couples are creating hashtags for their wedding guests to use on the big day. Doing so allows the attendees to not just watch, but be a part of your wedding. But the real question is, how do you create a wedding hashtag? One that everyone will be able to type in - whether tipsy or not - and one that has not been used before. Simple. Follow these quick tips: 164

USE YOUR NAMES. Sure there may be several Jim and Johns out there, but using your name is just the first part of the equation. THROW IN A WEDDING WORD. It’s obviously your wedding day, so why not use a word that identifies it. Words like: Hitch, Wed, Tie the Knot, I Do, Wedding, etc. ALLITERATIONS ARE FUN. And simple to remember. Use something like #HarrisonsGetHitched or #WildWilsonWedding. SPRUCE IT UP WITH A RHYME. Consider your names and if they rhyme with any wedding related words. Is your new last name going to be Stewart? Shorten it a bit and go with #StewPartyof2. WE LOVE TO BE PUNNY. Think about using an idiom or a common phrase in your hashtag. You can switch out a specific word with your name to get the punny in there. KEEP IT SWEET. Sure you could use something like #StephanieMarriesDanielCrowder as your hashtag, but it’s better to keep your hashtag short and sweet. Doing so will eliminate any guests from making any grammatical errors when entering it in. This doesn’t mean you can’t use your names. But consider using #StephWedsDan16 instead. GO TO THE SOURCE. Once you’ve come up with the perfect hashtag, log in to Instagram and check it out. This will confirm that your creative genius is all yours! SPREAD THE WORD. One thing to keep in mind once you’ve selected your perfect wedding hashtag, is to make it known to your guests. Add it to your wedding invitations, on your wedding website and place signs around your venues.

If it gets down to the wire and nothing has popped into your head, you can visit http://bit.ly/1LpA7UW for quick and easy help.
