CAPTAIN’S MESSAGE
Dear Fellow Members,
I trust that this message finds all of you well. The successful conclusion of LIV Golf Singapore capped off another memorable tournament season at Sentosa Golf Club.
Please allow me to begin by offering my heartfelt congratulations to the winners. Both the Individual, Brooks Koepka, and Team Champions, Ripper GC, displayed exceptional skill and sportsmanship on The Serapong. Their achievements are a testament to their dedication and talent, and we commend them for their outstanding performances.
The work to present our golf courses in their pristine ‘Tournament-Ready 365’ conditions each and every day could not have happened without the consistency and hard work of our staff, but also the support of our Members. Thank you for your support and bearing with the temporary closures to stage this world class showcase.
BUNKER ETIQUETTE
We continue to look to Members for all your help in taking pride, caring after our courses; with filling in divots, repairing pitch marks and raking bunkers.
I must emphasise the importance of diligence in bunker raking. Ensuring that the bunkers are properly maintained not only enhances the aesthetics of our courses, but also contributes to fair play for all golfers. Your cooperation is appreciated, as it enables us to uphold the high standards of our facilities.
SAFE PLAY
As we continue to enjoy our time on the course, it is important to remember the principles of safe play. Please be always mindful of your
surroundings and exercise caution. This includes waiting for players ahead to fully clear away from the landing area, greens and greens surrounds before taking shots, as well as shouting 'FORE' loudly to warn others in the event of a stray shot. Your attention to these details ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
As we continue through a year filled with celebratory events and exciting tournaments, we must adhere to the golfing etiquette that defines Sentosa Golf Club as a community of which we are proud members.
SGA LEAGUE AND JUNIOR MEDALS
Finally, I would like to update that both the SGA League games and Junior Medal programme have been progressing well. I would like to thank Members for your participation and also express gratitude to our sponsors, Sun Golf and Art Works Advisory, for their generous contributions towards the sponsored attire for our teams. Their support plays a crucial role in fostering camaraderie and ensuring that our golfers have the resources they need to succeed. We are truly grateful for their partnership and commitment to our Club.
With our 50th Golden Jubilee this year, let's unite to make this milestone a testament to the spirit of our Club. Thank you for your dedication, support, and cooperation, which are the cornerstones of our success.
Warm regards,

GM’S MESSAGE
Dear Members, Colleagues, and Friends
As I take a moment to contemplate the recent triumphs of our Club in hosting both the HSBC Women's World Championship and LIV Golf Singapore, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and humility. The journey leading up to these events was marked by tremendous planning, dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment from every member of our team. Today, I am honoured to share our story — a narrative of passion, sacrifice, resilience, and marked by distinction and quality.
First and foremost, I want to express my deepest appreciation to each member of our team who poured their heart and soul into preparing for these prestigious tournaments. This marked my 28th televised event with the Club, while others have exceeded over 30 events. From the meticulous planning and execution of the agronomy team to the flawless conditions of the courses, every aspect required relentless dedication that was nothing short of extraordinary. Countless hours of personal time were sacrificed, numerous adjustments were made, and every effort was made to achieve perfection in our preparations — even in the face of challenges thrown at us by Mother Nature.
The results of your hard work were nothing short of remarkable. The courses exceeded even the loftiest of expectations, drawing praise from players, spectators, and media alike. The television coverage captured the beauty and excitement of the tournaments, showcasing our facilities on a global stage. The compliments poured in by the hundreds, a testament to the tireless efforts of our team and the exceptional quality of our courses.
But behind the scenes, there were sacrifices made by our Members as well. The temporary closures and cart path restrictions undoubtedly posed challenges, and for that, we are truly grateful for your patience and understanding. Your unwavering support throughout this process is a testament
to the strength of our community and the shared vision we hold dear.
In the words of Carl Jung, "You are what you do, not what you say you'll do." These tournaments were not just events on a calendar; they reflected who we are as a team and as a Club. Through our actions, we demonstrated our commitment to excellence, our passion for the game, and our unwavering dedication to providing a world-class experience for all who pass through our gates — a treat and treasure that we can all be proud to belong to and share with the world how special Sentosa Golf Club is.
I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. But more than that, I am humbled by the opportunity to lead such a passionate and dedicated team. Our success is a testament to the power of collaboration, the strength of our community, and the shared values that unite us.
Looking ahead, let us carry forward the spirit of excellence that has defined these tournaments. Let us continue to push the boundaries of what is possible, to strive for greatness in everything we do, and to uphold and to continue to build on the legacy of excellence that has become synonymous with our club.
In closing, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you — our members, our colleagues, and our friends. Your unwavering support, your tireless dedication, and your boundless enthusiasm are what make our club truly special.
Together, we have proven that when we work as one, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
With deepest gratitude and warmest regards,

KORDA MAKES IT FIVE ON THE TROT
Nelly Korda continues to light up the game as she collected her fifth straight LPGA Tour victory at the opening Major of the women's season. The American won the Chevron Championship in Texas by two shots over Maja Stark thanks to four birdies in her first 10 holes and, after a couple of wobbles, she signed off in trademark style with a closing birdie for her second Major. Korda now joins Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam as the only other player since 1978 to win five consecutive titles.
ROLEX CELEBRATES 25 YEARS AT AUGUSTA
This year the Swiss watchmaker Rolex celebrated its 25th year as an official partner of the Masters Tournament. Rolex have supported the professional game since 1967 when the Big Three of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player became the brand’s first golfing ambassadors. Since then, they have been represented by five-time Green Jacket winner Tiger Woods as well as recent winners Hideki Matsuyama and Jon Rahm. The now two-time champion Scottie Scheffler is also a Rolex testimonee. The Swiss luxury brand became an International Partner at Augusta in 2008 and it has also been the official timekeeper of The Open for more than 40 years.
QUANTUM COMFORT LEAP FROM FOOTJOY
FootJoy have released what they claim is its ‘most comfortable shoe ever’. Inspired by the traction technologies featured in their Pro/SLX and HyperFlex offerings, the new FJ Quantum has taken comfort to a new level. These come from a new SofFOAM midsole – the softest foam ever used in a FootJoy shoe – which offer a soft and premium platform to tally with some impressive modern designs. These are available in White/Blue/Pink, Grey/White/Blue and Navy/White/ Lime for men and, for the women, there is Navy/White/ Pink and White/Grey/Pink.
SCHEFFLER LANDS SECOND MAJOR
Scottie Scheffler continued his dominance of the men's game with a resounding four-shot win at The Masters. Multiple players threatened on the final day but the American made six birdies in his final 11 holes to add to his wins at the Arnold Palmer and Players. A week later he followed up his Masters victory with a win at the Heritage for his fourth success in five starts. Korea's Ben An was the leading Asian player with a tie for 16th, his joint best effort in a Major in 28 starts. Otherwise, Si Woo Kim, Tom Kim and former winner Hideki Matsuyama made it through to the weekend at Augusta. Japan's Ryo Hisatsune would miss the cut on his Major debut, as would Korea's Sungjae.

KOEPKA ENJOYS SPECTACULAR WEEK AT SENTOSA
At the start of the week
Brooks Koepka predicted that The Serapong would reward the best ball strikers, come the end of the week the five-time Major winner would walk away from Sentosa with a two-shot win at LIV Golf Singapore.
Koepka’s previous successes had come in Jeddah (twice, both in play-offs) and Orlando and his win, over Aussie duo Marc Leishman and Cam Smith, made him the first LIV player to record four victories.
In the end the American, who celebrated his 34th birthday with an opening 66, would record a closing 68 as Leishman and Smith left themselves too much to do on the final round on Sunday. However, there was plenty to smile about for the Aussies as Smith’s 64 and Leishman’s 66 helped Ripper GC to a second straight team victory following their record-breaking play-off win in Adelaide.
Last year’s champion Talor Gooch would finish alone in fourth spot with Tyrrell Hatton and Thomas Pieters rounded off a high-quality leaderboard. Another relative LIV new boy Jon Rahm closed with a 67 to finish in a tie for 10th and that would give him his seventh straight top 10 in as many starts.
There were plenty of plaudits for The Serapong before and after the tournament and Koepka would highlight the need to hit a collection of quality shots around one of the finest courses on the planet.
“If you look at the leaderboard last year, Talor (Gooch) won, great ball striker, really can work the ball both ways, flight it very well, last year was probably one of the best I've seen somebody with control of the ball both ways in flight. Sergio is a good ball striker, lost in a play-off,” the American explained.
“It's a pure golf course. You look at
that whole front side, it's all about positioning and being in the right spot, making sure you either hit the fairway or you're positioned correctly. That's what I think a good course tests you.
"The 6th stands out. Maybe on the back, the 15th you've got to be a good ball striker there, really commit to your shot and the shape because if you hit it just a little left, it very easily could go in the water.”
For the record Koepka birdied the 6th the first two days before making a par in the final round while a crucial birdie at the 15th on Sunday gave him a very welcome cushion going into the final three holes.
Another stat that Koepka firmly put to bed was that his previous best efforts in front of his son, albeit only nine months old, were a couple of 45thplace finishes at LIV Golf Miami and The Masters. Now he can celebrate his first victory as a father.
“It's something I've always dreamed of is having Jena and Crew there when I win. To have them here is super special and something I'll never forget.”
Indeed, it was that nine-over performance at Augusta National, where he first put in the new Scotty Cameron mallet putter that he would use at Sentosa, that spurred him on to a greater work ethic in recent weeks.
“There's a lot of people that put time and effort into making sure that I play good. Augusta was a good wake-up call. The embarrassment of Augusta really kicked things into overdrive for me and really having to put my nose down and grind it a little bit harder and having to look my team in the eye and apologise. I'm not looking to do that again.”
Equally as ominous for the rest of the 2024 campaign are the back-to-back team successes for Ripper GC. First up the all-Australian quartet cleaned up on home soil

Leishman inspired a second team win by three strokes over Fireballs GC and Cleeks GC as the season reached its halfway point.
“I kind of knew all year that we were going to get the ball rolling at some point,” said Smith, whose team finished at 32 under and moved to third in the standings with the victory. “I think internally that we're the best team out here and we're going to be tough to beat when we all have our best stuff.
“I knew that we had it in us, and it was just a matter of time. There were probably a few lazy boys over Christmas, to be honest, and it took us a little bit to get going, but this is how we expect to play, and this is how we want to keep playing.”
There was even the trademark Aussie celebratory 'shoey', despite the local temperatures, as the quartet toasted one another by having a drink from their golf shoes.
“I said to the boys, surely we've got to draw the line somewhere, don't we?” Leishman said. “They're like, no, we're doing it. I'm like, alright, so we did.”
"It was rank," added the skipper.
As for the bigger picture Bryson DeChambeau, captain of Crushers GC who lead the team standings, truly enjoyed LIV's second visit to Singapore and the all-round feedback from the locals.
"It's awesome to inspire younger generations in this part of the globe. We're too lucky being from the States, seeing professional golf at a super-high level at a young age, and it's different over here. Being able to provide that opportunity and see those kids' eyes light up when we give them a golf ball or sign a hat for them or whatever it is, it's inspiring not only hopefully to them but to us. It reignites us a bit, too, and allows us to feel like we're doing something really cool that's not really been doing the way we think it should be in professional golf, like LIV is currently doing.
"It doesn't even have to be a junior. It's also old adults that are just in love with the game and they see us and they're so appreciative of us being here. We're excited to provide that more and more as years keep coming."

General Manager at adidas Golf for the Asia-Pacific region
In the past two years adidas Golf has experienced strong growth by having market-leading product performance as well as a robust supply chain. Our team has been working hard to deliver products that appeal to all skill levels as well as being market relevant in terms of style, design, and price point. By working closely with our local teams in my new role I am planning to optimise our product offering, build stronger connections with our customers as well as foster close relationships with the key stakeholders to help grow the game. Some of this will not happen in the first six months but there are initiatives that will come online gradually over the next couple of years.
At adidas Golf we approach product development and marketing with both a global and local mindset. The overall strategy and technology
development is generated in our global HQ in California, but we also have product design and creation based in Tokyo which is specifically tailored to the APAC market. In some cases, we create entire categories of products that are just for specific markets where there is a local demand.
Sentosa is widely regarded as the world’s most sustainable golf club, and this is at the core of the adidas brand. Through the sponsorship of the staff uniform and promoting that message in the club’s event, such as Sentosa Ladies Open in 2023, we have seen a successful collaboration of adidas Golf Singapore with Sentosa in driving the same vision of ending plastic waste. We need to think and act in completely new ways in sustainable practices into products and operations. We’re focusing on three core areas: changing materials, wearing items

longer and our carbon footprint. By 2024, we will replace all virgin polyester with recycled polyester wherever possible. By 2025, we are committed to reduce our carbon footprint by on average 15 per cent per product, compared to the emissions baseline of 2017, and we plan to achieve climate neutrality in our own retail and operations. Then by 2030, we plan to reduce combined greenhouse gas emissions from both our own retail and operations and those of our suppliers by 30 per cent and by 2050 we plan to be climate neutral.
In 2021 we partnered with Sentosa on a five-year sustainability collaboration as a part of #KeepitGreen, supplying the staff with our PRIMEGREEN polos made from 100 per cent recycled materials collected from the ocean.
On a more global scale our strategy is to target the best in the world on the PGA and LPGA Tours, especially focusing on strong young talent on local tours. In APAC we have endorsement deals with some of the best – players such as Patty Tavatanakit, Shannon Tan, and Jin Young Ko – who will most likely represent their countries in our footwear for the Paris Olympics this summer.

LIV Golf Singapore Sustainability Summit
MMajesticks stars join the debate as Sentosa Golf Club welcomes business leaders from around the world for LIV Golf’s first-ever Sustainability Summit.
Sentosa Golf Club hosted LIV Golf’s first Sustainability Summit in May, with over 60 delegates from around the world coming together to discuss the intersection between sustainability and sport. Held prior to the LIV Golf Singapore event, the Sustainability Summit attracted panellists from global organisations such as Google, The
R&A and Conservation Singapore, whilst Sentosa Golf Club General Manager, Andrew Johnston, joined the discussions alongside LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner, Greg Norman.
After Johnston’s welcoming address, the morning opened with a discussion on Asia-Pacific’s current position in the sport and sustainability space, with delegates debating the current themes, trends, challenges and opportunities emerging in the region.
Johnston also joined fellow golf industry experts Josephina Oji, Sustainability Director, Performance54,
and Jake Jones, Senior Vice President, Impact & Sustainability, LIV Golf for a roundtable session to discuss the environmental challenges golf faces, the existing solutions, and how more innovation is required to rapidly change the sport’s relationship with sustainability around the world.
The Sustainability Summit, which Majesticks players Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson also attended, gave those within the industry the opportunity to learn from different experts and discover how other businesses are innovating.
Leah Kaplan, Asia-Pacific Sustainability
You could say that the Sustainability Summit that preceded LIV Golf Singapore was the most productive part of the week, with everyone leaving the event feeling inspired and armed with plenty of fresh ideas.
Lead, Google, Melati Wijsen, CEO & Founder YouthTopia, and Adele Lee, Assistant General Manager, Polestar – Wearnes Automotive Pte. Ltd all took to the stage to share some of the ways they have been able to implement more sustainable ways of working.
The Summit also gave Norman the opportunity to provide those in attendance information about LIV Green, LIV Golf’s ambitious sustainability strategy, before Westwood, Poulter and Stenson closed out the Summit by telling the audience more about ‘Little Sticks’, a charity initiative that was launched in schools last September in an effort to introduce the sport and the values it teaches to more children.
Brooks Koepka may have enjoyed a fruitful few days on the golf course, but you could say that the Sustainability Summit that preceded LIV Golf Singapore was the most productive part of the week, with everyone leaving the event feeling inspired and armed with plenty of fresh ideas.

Golf Course Superintendent Rodney Mckeown offers a fascinating insight into how his team prepared for LIV Golf Singapore
It was a privilege to watch Brooks Koepka and co in action around The Serapong in May. The week passed by in a flash, but our preparation for the tournament started seven months before the event. It was quite the journey…
A primary focus at the beginning was adjusting mowing heights, a process that typically begins around 90 days prior to the tournament. Additionally, we methodically planned the application of essential elements such as NPK (fertilizer) and Bio Char, strategically scheduled to ensure the course peaks in tournament-ready condition responsibly.
The team is well accustomed to hosting major tournaments, and we’re renowned for our impeccable tournament-ready (TR365) conditioning. Even so, preparing for LIV Golf Singapore did not come without its challenges — one of which was Mother Nature!
The relentless heat and sporadic rain can wreak havoc on our meticulously manicured greens and fairways, demanding constant vigilance and
adaptation. The Serapong also faces additional stress due to its popularity. Unrepaired ball marks, unraked bunkers, and the wear from golf cart traffic add an extra layer of damage that requires time to heal. They were all challenges that the team was able to overcome, much of which can be attributed to strong leadership.
“Plan your work, Work your plan” is a saying that’s engrained in our culture. There are 75 of us on the Agronomy team, and we have become seasoned on how to share the load. We have also invested in talent. Both of our new Assistants have a strong pedigree. Corey Allan (formerly of Pebble Beach), Killian Guinan (Adare Manor) and Kutty
Narayanan, who has been with us for over 15 years, are continually building their skillset and sharing leadership duties.
I can’t talk about the hosting of LIV Golf Singapore without championing our sustainability methods. Our entire program now revolves around sustainable practices from how we water to what products we purchase. Our water management is world class and our innovative use of Bio Char has reduced fertilizer applications as much as 50%.
It’s extremely gratifying when The Serapong receives praise from the world’s best players. I am proud of our entire team and how we delivered The Serapong. It looked absolutely terrific.
The relentless heat and sporadic rain can wreak havoc on our meticulously manicured greens and fairways, demanding constant vigilance and adaptation.

HOW TO DRIVE THE BALL LIKE A MAJOR CHAMPION
Australia’s Cam Smith has one of the best putting strokes in the business – but there’s also a lot that you can learn from the former Open Champion’s long game.
As you’d expect from one of the world’s best players, Cam Smith’s set-up is perfect. Note how his arms are hanging out slightly. If he were hitting an iron, they’d be positioned more under the shoulder blades. His arms also look perfectly relaxed – there’s no tension there that amateur club players often have on the tee, which can lead to so many problems with the driver.
You can see how he has flared open his lead foot a touch, which will help him to shift his pressure and clear his left hip through impact. What we’re going to see from here is what many would regard as a ‘modern classic’ as opposed to traditional swing. It’s hard to fault. Smith’s driver swing is based on good connection and a solid pivot.
When on the range, the Australian uses GravityFit TPro – a training aid that helps in a number of ways. As well as helping golfers with posture and establishing solid fundamentals, you can see how it helps Smith to keep that extension of the arms in the takeaway: the hands and club are all moving as one. This good connection between his torso, the hands and the club is crucial. A lot of amateurs lose connection, which leads to a number of other faults. In short, it can result in a loss of power and poor strikes – something Smith doesn’t struggle with.
Note the change in knee flex and how Smith has loaded the right hip. At the top of his backswing, you can see the left arm along the shoulder plane. There’s a slight bowing of the left wrist but it’s nothing excessive. The pivot is fantastic. Even if we didn’t see any more pictures from this position, you could imagine just how powerfully he was going to be able to unload. Smith loads into the ground so well and uses those forces to help generate explosive power.
As he comes into impact, note how he’s really squatting into the ground. He’s now ready to unload – and that’s exactly what he does. He pushes off of the ground coming into impact and clears his lead hip really well. He then starts to extend up and out into a full, balanced finished. That big, full release is really something to see. Also note that the trail heel has come off the ground slightly before the strike, which is not unusual in the modern game. What’s also impressive is how Smith maintains a good spine angle throughout the swing.
18 Holes With…
ALOYSA ATIENZA
In the latest issue of 18 Holes With…we caught up with the third of our new sponsored players, Aloysa Atienza, to discuss her ambitions for the SGA national team, the best part of her game, and the one tournament she’s always wanted to play in…
How did you first get into golf?
My father went for golf lessons and wanted his kids to pick them up. I played my first tournament in 2007, where I won the KinderGolf tournament.
Who is your current favourite golfer? Lydia Ko. She is very well rounded especially in her short game and putting. I admire her mental game the most.
How does it feel to play on the SGA national team?
It is a huge honour to play on the SGA National Team and represent my country in regional and international events. My goal is to compete in the Olympics one day.
What is your favourite thing about Sentosa Golf Club?
The golf courses are always in pristine condition and also all the friendly people – members, staff, and workers.
What is the best part about being sponsored by Sentosa Golf Club? I get to practice in a world class facility, play on tournament-ready golf courses and be an ambassador for the club when I compete in tournaments.
What are your favourite holes at Sentosa Golf Club?
Hole 2 on The Serapong as I got my first Hole in One there. Hole 18 on The Tanjong because of the Clubhouse view from the tee box.
What is the best element of your game? Driving and approach play.
If you could improve one part of your game, what would it be?
"Drive for show, Putt for dough”. Putting is the one part of my game that I want to be world-class.
Do you have any golf superstitions? I have several ball markers of my favourite courses that I use.
What is the favourite club in your bag? Pitching wedge. It feels like I can hit to wherever I want to with it.
If you could play in any tournament in the world, which one would it be?
The Olympics or any of the majors.
How did it feel to win the silver medal at the Southeast Asian Games in 2022?
