As part of the masterplan work, we carried out an outline appraisal of the existing 12 storey tower. With a generous grid, substantial structure and centrally located cores, the tower has inherently flexible floorplates. Combined with upgrades to the MEP and external cladding, as well as internal reconfiguration and refurbishment, it will provide the Royal Free hospital with many more decades’ use to come.

Our masterplanning work at the Royal Free continues our ongoing relationship with the hospital, where we are also carrying out a number of smaller refurbishment research lab and education projects, in collaboration with the Trust and University College London.
