In this Permaculture course we will learn how to create regenerative systems that provide for our basic needs without comprimising the environment. Using a variety of learning techniques and strategies this course presents Permaculture as an integrated design approach to create sustainable human habitat. This course will be innovative in that not only will the course be about Permaculture, but it will also model it by its structure and environment. Course time will consist of traditional lectures, guest presentations, group discussions, games, exercises, hands-on projects, photos, movies and site visits.

With Hands-On Projects and Fieldtrips Topics Will Include: Graywater Systems Appropriate technology Composting and nutrient cycling Water Harvesting and Storage Food Forests and Jungle Gardens Natural Building Alternative Economics Aquaculture Mapping

Jiwa Dimai Agro permaculture and retreat center is located on a four hectare property next to Banjar Bindu, Mambal in the district of Badung, Bali, in a small tropical valley. The Flora and Fauna are diverse, including Coconut, and Banana trees, ponds, a small river, plants and a jungle that is home to numerous traditional Balinese healing plants. Mr. Zook have been a Permaculture designer, consultant and instructor working with private individuals, farmers, villagers and local organizations to create culturally and environmentally appropriate life systems in northern New Mexico, India, Cambodia, the middle east and places in between. This work focuses on assisting local and indigenous cultures to preserve traditional knowledge and technologies while adapting to and becoming active members of our rapidly globalizing world. meals per day, optional morning yoga, and optional morning meditation. Two field trips to other Permaculture centers on the island are planned during the 2+ week course, as well as a possible excursions for exploration of the local spices and medicinal herbs grown in the area. A vegan raw cooking course will be offered immediately after course.

Host: Margret Rueffler is the founder and caretaker of Jiwa Damai Agro-Permaculture and Retreat Center. She holds a Ph.D. in transpersonal psychology and is an acupuncturist and teaches internationally. Her books have been translated in several languages.
