FACING FJORDS
EXPLORE THE FJORDS OF NORWAY Lærdal Hotel is the gateway to the glaciers, the towering mountains, the waterfalls and the glittering fjords. Sognefjorden is the deepest and longest fjord in the world, and Lærdalsfjorden is an arm of the famous Sognefjorden. The contrastful scenery in the valley and the steep mountains and the long fjord through green landscape is amazing. The most important road between Bergen and Oslo has always gone
through Lærdal. From the Viking age to the modern road including the world’s longest car tunnel – Lærdalstunnelen (24,5 km). Today the historical roads are very popular hiking routes. And Lærdal municipality welcome you to explore the surrending nature – the national salmon centre, the Lærdal river, the Queen among salmon rivers, Borgund stavechurchand of course the amazing waterfalls.
WELCOME TO LÆRDAL HOTEL The hotel is ideally situated just 500 meters from the centre of Lærdal township, neighbouring Lærdalsøyri with its distinctive architecture and old buildings. A short drive to Borgund Stave Church, the historic “Kongevegen” (“King’s High-
way”) which passes through countryside that is every walker’s dream, and the cotter’s property “Galdane”- a small restored farm located on the large ledge that juts out over the Lærdal river. Also worth visiting are the many salmon stairs.
