I AM JESUS, WHOM YOU ARE PERSECUTING
your bridge to the persecuted church
“ I A M J E S U S , W H O M YO U A R E P E R S E C U T I N G ” I am often told about the suffering of our persecuted brothers and sisters in overseas prisons. Because of severe mental or physical abuse, they come out as shadows of their former selves. They are often described as being like homeless people, not just in appearance, but mentally confused and broken. One brother who was imprisoned in Saudi Arabia spent five months in solitary confinement. Every day he faced five to six hours of intense interrogation. As I think about our persecuted brothers and sisters, I think of the words of Jesus to Saul. Saul was dragging Christians off to prison. On the way to Damascus, he heard a voice from heaven and asked who was speaking to him. Do you remember what the Lord said? “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting ME?” Jesus didn’t ask why Saul was persecuting His children or why Saul was hurting those He loved. He said Saul was persecuting himself,
Jesus. This is the foundation of why ICC serves the persecuted Church. It is Jesus in prison we are trying to help. It is Jesus we serve when we help the wife and family of an imprisoned pastor. This is an incredibly powerful mystery that I would urge you to meditate on. In the end, all I know is that the Word tells us we are ONE BODY and that body is somehow the body of Jesus. This is not a trite phrase or marketing slogan. It is a deep spiritual mystery and reality that we won’t fully understand until we get to heaven. I want to thank you for caring for the persecuted Body of Christ. Your interest and care for them demonstrates your heart to care for the body of Jesus. Jeff King, President

In 2008, Hindu radicals killed 300-500 Christians and burned down 100+ churches. At the peak of the attack, 55,000 Christians were evicted from their homes and forced to run for their lives, wherever they could find refuge.
From 1998-2003, Muslims went on an antiChristian rampage, killing 10,000 Christians and burning down 1,200 churches. The most shocking fact is that this massive raid was largely under-reported.
For ten years, Muslim-dominated Northern Nigeria has been ground zero in an antiChristian war. More than 10,000 believers have died in the violence. In March 2010, Muslim radicals macheted their way through 500 women and children in just one village attack. Sadly, the mainstream media reported this as merely “sectarian violence.

Since 1995, in partnership with Christians in the free world, we have provided effective Advocacy, Awareness, and Assistance for the worldwide persecuted Body of Christ.
Relieve the suffering of the worldwide persecuted Church and help it grow in strength and breadth by providing effective assistance, advocacy and awareness with integrity towards God and donors.
The Father calls us to remember the prisoners (Hebrews 13:3), to speak up for the voiceless (Proverbs 31:8), to seek justice, reprove the ruthless, defend the orphan, and plead for the widow (Isaiah 1:17). We bring the good news to the poor, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and open the doors of the prison. (Isaiah 61:1).

ICC’S MINISTRY A S S I ST A N C E We build and bandage the church by taking care of the wives and children of murdered Christians, rebuilding communities devastated by large scale attacks, caring for the smallest victims of persecution (educational/spiritual development and orphanges), providing support and training for underground pastors, sending Bibles into closed countries, and broadcasting the Gospel into closed areas.

Our advocacy efforts are focused on pushing back countries that persecute, or on freeing imprisoned Christians. We use our connections with Capitol Hill legislators, leaders in the State Department, and our expertise with the Press to accomplish this.
The Western Church is blissfully unaware of the suffering of their persecuted brothers and sisters. ICC is diligently working to change this, 365 days per year. Through millions of annual visitors to our website, persecution.org, our 200,000 social media followers, and news releases, we strive to wake the Church and obey our Father’s command to care for the persecuted body of Jesus.

Believers are starved for a page of the Word of God. In a country as heavily guarded as North Korea, obtaining a Bible seems impossible. Christians are forced to keep their faith hidden and often have no access to the Bible. Yet the Word of God cannot be silenced. Bibles are like spiritual fertilizer: wherever they go, more believers follow and pastors and believers grow. Thanks to ICC donors, by the end of 2012 ICC will have sent 10,000 Bibles carried by hydrogen balloons into the country, bringing light to a nation shrouded in darkness. Some even have a tracking device, so that ICC partners will know where the Bibles are landing.

This pastor risks his life by simply saying, “Jesus.” Underground pastors are incredibly devoted and willing to sacrifice their lives for the Lord. What they typically lack is financial backing to go into areas for years without the financial support from an existng Christian culture. In addition, while they have the “heart” to serve, they usually lack practical knowlege of pastoring and theological training. That’s where ICC comes in. We finanically support pastors in the toughest parts of the world and also provide them with theological/ practical training of how to pastor.

God: Protector of Widows (Psalm 68:5)
“Take up the cause of the fatherless... plead the case of the widow.” Isaiah 1:17 (NIV) ICC takes this seriously, especially in regard to the persecuted Church. The wives and children of church workers are barely able to care for themselves after a husband or father is imprisoned or martyred. We believe it is the duty of the Church to help them. ICC helps up to 100 families a year rebuild their lives through the Suffering Wives fund. We typically provide these families with livestock or a small, simple business. A current ICC focus is Nigeria, where due to severe persecution, husbands are dying in large numbers, leaving their families to fend for themselves.
!
DID YOU KNOW: We can rebuild the life of a martyred pastor’s family for as little as $200?

This is Nileen. She loves to worship Jesus. Children are often the unseen victims of persecution. Every year, children are orphaned or left with scarcely enough provision to survive when their fathers and mothers are imprisoned or martyred for their faith. Other children live in communities where they are forced to live as second- and third-class citizens because their families are Christian. Our Kids Care fund is designed to meet the needs of these overlooked little ones. We primarily aid children through orphanages and educational assistance.

We cannot hear their cries. We touch too few.
We are not shouting loud enough.
Two hundred million persecuted Christians in more than 60 countries and yet the number of Christians working on their behalf around the world is incredibly small. ICC is efficient and effective, but we only have a relative handful working on a massive problem.
The details of countless attacks don’t get to us until it is too late. Helping the victims we know about is extremely time-intensive.
The West is asleep and largely unaware of persecution.

THE SOLUTION 1

More Staff
More Sources on the Ground
More Staff
The sad truth is that if you add all the organizations serving the persecuted Church together, our service and care to them represent the proverbial ‘drop in the bucket,’ in terms of the Western Church’s response to a massive problem.
Have you ever wondered how we find out about attacks against Christians in far off villages in obscure countries?
Through almost two decades of sustained effort, we have developed a “voice” that is disproportionate to our size when we speak to Capitol Hill, the Press, and to the Western Church.
As an organization, we feel this acutely. Anyone who has been to our office is amazed by what we are able to accomplish with only 10 full-time staff. Our staff are dedicated, underpaid, extremely hardworking, and very busy. We are constantly confronted with the limitiations of resources in terms of manpower and time we are able to apportion to different cases. The bottom line is we need to add staff to more effectively build and bandage the persecuted Church.
The answer is two-fold; our Regional Managers, who are experts in their regions, work with our native representatives on the ground to feed us information about attacks and government moves against Christians. This combination allows us to know of attacks on Christians before the US government and news agencies. We are then able to take those alerts and respond with Advocacy, Awareness, or Assistance (practical help to victims of attacks). We must expand our network of Regional Managers and representatives on the ground that alert us to what is happening. These people are extremely hard to find but we have a great track record of finding them and developing them. In the next five years, with your help, we will add 10 more to our team, opening up many new countries and taking us to the next level of care for the persecuted in countries where we already have a presence.
The size of our “voice” is directly tied to our ability to mobilize relief for the persecuted. The more followers we have on the web, the more we are listened to on Capitol Hill and by countries that persecute. The bigger our voice in the press, the more governments fear their anti-Christian activities being exposed. The press suppresses persecution news so that the . Western Church is unaware of the suffering of the persecuted. We know what we need to build a louder “bullhorn” in each of these spheres of influence (political, press, Church) and have developed a five-year plan to get us to our goal.

LOOKING AHEAD
For 17 years, we have consistently laid our plans and strategies at His feet. Because of this, we have been continually blessed and awarded more influence, capability, and responsibility. Feeling the Lord’s prompting, we are in the beginning stages of our biggest project ever, and we are excited to share the news with you! As you know, Islam has always used violence and calculated oppression to keep out the Gospel. In addition, Islam strangles the Church that exists within its borders. For this reason, we have been supporting radio, TV, and Web broadcasts for the past few years that air in closed Muslim areas. These broadcasts build up and encourage the Church body. Muslim seekers are able to evaluate Christianity without the looming threat of abuse or death. Our new initiative involves delivering media that will scale the wall of one of the most closed and dangerous Muslim countries, bringing the Gospel to millions who would have not heard. This is a highly sensitive subject so we cannot publicly disclose too many
details (we are happy to discuss with our close partners in person or on the phone). We have assembled a team of four to five key ministry partners to work on the project together, as it is complex and expensive. Together, the sum of the parts will be much greater than the whole. The bottom line is that a radical Muslim country is soon going to be inundated with the Gospel, presented to them by their own. That is, the faces that present the Gospel are all from their culture and are all former Muslims. This methodology, combined with quality programming, has proven to be a deadly mix for radical Islam. More Muslims have come to Christ in the last thirty years than have come to Christ in the previous 700 years. The reality is that Islam and Muhammad cannot compete with Jesus. It’s not even close. We are passionate about this issue because we truly believe that Muslims are prisoners. The evil one will not allow them to hear or consider Jesus,
OUR GOAL: In five years, 40,000 Muslims of one of the most dangerous and closed countries of the world become believers. and will kill any person sent to tell Muslims about the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ. Even if the Gospel is heard, many will not take the chance to look at Jesus as they will be, at a minimum, ostracized. More likely, they will be beaten or killed. But, when Muslims are given a chance to really encounter Jesus, meditate on His Word and seek His truth, they turn to Him readily and become bold and passionate evangelists. Because of the above factors, we are about to embark on our biggest project ever. All this is happening because just one of our financial partners heard the Lord tell him to give sacrificially to ICC. His large impact gift is going to produce life a thousand times over where only death has reigned.
