2014 1oz Gold & Silver Proof Locket Coins with Gold
Showcasing Earth's abundance of natural riches, the second release in the annual Treasures of the World coin series celebrates Australia and the allure of gold. Treasured since ancient times, gold is a precious metal symbolic of wealth, perfection, wisdom and virtue. Struck from 1oz of 99.99% pure gold and 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, these stunning Australian legal tender coins feature 0.2g of loose gold granules encased in a transparent circular locket. The surrounding reverse design on each release features a kangaroo in an Australian outback setting. Each coin is packaged in a prestigious display case with a timber lid, beautifully illustrated shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate. The Perth Mint will release no more than 750 of the 1oz gold proof coin and 7,500 of the 1oz silver proof coin, each containing genuine gold. The Perth Mint is proud to present one of Walt Disney's most famous characters on a 1/4oz 99.99% pure gold and a 1oz 99.9% pure silver coin. Each magical release portrays a scene from Disney's Steamboat Willie – an animated film which received widespread acclaim for its innovation and debut of Mickey Mouse. The reverse of each proof quality coin features a sculptured representation of Mickey Mouse at the wheel of his handcrafted ship, with the inscription STEAMBOAT WILLIE 1928. Issued a legal tender of the Pacific isle of Niue, the obverse of each coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. No more than 10,000 silver and 1,000 gold Disney – Steamboat Willie coins will be released in a classic wooden display case within a vintage-inspired Mickey Mouse shipper, and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Affixed to the envelope is an official Australia Post 70c stamp, postmarked for the first day of issue with Australia Post's Seal of Authenticity and official release number.
