In the past the Banks and Building Societies have traditionally looked after us but many customers have lost faith and trust in them in recent years. The alternative is to seek out a Financial Adviser, which for many will be a scary prospect. All Financial Advisers are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and are charged with providing you as the client suitable Financial Advice. Financial Advisers don’t gamble with your money or guess what the markets are going to do, they use their knowledge, experience and skills to research the market and recommend the most suitable areas for investment that they can. Over the past few months we have seen uncertainty in the financial markets, a change of Prime Minister, a Brexit Vote and I haven’t even mentioned Jeremy Corbyn or Donald Trump. We can’t predict the future but there is likely to be further market uncertainty, whatever happens both here in the UK and in the wider world. Uncertainty may affect the markets in the short term and potentially in the longer term. The question then follows ‘ what should I do with my pension, savings and investments? ‘ You could put your money in the Bank or Building Society, seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser or put it in a suitcase under the bed. Whatever you choose there are risks involved and advantages and disadvantages. We would never advocate putting your money in a suitcase under the bed as inflation, theft or fire could seriously reduce your wealth. If you are going to invest in these uncertain times it is important to choose wisely and make informed decisions about your investments and your future. A Financial Adviser will complete a full factfind, assess your attitude to risk and choose the most suitable investment products and funds for you given all of your circumstances. There are investment products with a variety of different levels of risk, from low, low to medium, medium, medium to high and high risk. The returns on each will differ and your Financial Adviser can advise you on what’s best for you, your family and your future. If you would like an initial free, no nonsense, no obligation appointment with myself, Frank Cochran, Derek Baillie or Mark Mitchell then please give us a call or drop us an email. Call: 01902 422333 or Email: info@fscinvestments.co.uk We will always try to place your money in the most suitable place, at different times to suit your personal requirements.

Tips From Your Local PGA Pro at Perton Park..... What a great Olympic Gold Medal Win by Justin Rose, this Month it’s a tip from him. Sometimes there’s so much to think about on the course, you can forget to think about a very important detail: Where you’re aiming. We’ve all caught ourselves doing it at some point. You’ve got some swing thought in your head or you’re so obsessed with not making another bogey that you end up just putting the club down haphazardly and swinging away. There’s no point in putting a good swing on the ball if you’re not even aimed at a specific target. To help make sure you’re aimed correctly, try Olympic gold medal winner Justin Rose’s alignment trick. “I try to go with clear targets,” says Rose. “If there's someone wearing an orange sweater two yards left of the flag, that's what I'm zeroing in on.” Since there probably isn’t a gallery following you around, look for a certain tree behind the green that you want to hit at, or a bush, or sign. Any object that’s easy to pick out and won’t move during your pre-shot will work. “To aim, I draw an imaginary line from my target to the ball,” says Rose. “Then I choose an intermediate target on that line about six feet in front of me. I square the club to the shorter target, then take my stance.” It’s hard to line up to something that’s a few hundred yards away. By lining up to an intermediate target, you’re giving yourself a chance to line up more accurately. Dial in that intermediate target, and your good swings won’t go to waste. Get out on the course and try it before the Winter arrives!

A Word From Gavin Williamson............... This summer it was a relief to get back to South Staffordshire after the political unrest of the past couple of months. I recently visited the South Staffordshire branch of the Staffordshire Police Cadets. The idea of Staffordshire's Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis, the scheme was created in order to strengthen links between the police and young people and to promote good citizenship. It is open to those between 14 and 17 years old, equipping them with useful skills that they might need for their future. Cadets work towards nationally recognised qualifications in team-building, citizenship and personal skills following a detailed programme that covers every aspect of policing and how they support the police in keeping our communities safe and reassured. After speaking with the Cadets, it was great to hear that they are benefiting academically and socially as well as reconnecting with local policing teams and local communities, giving them a real advantage later on in life. I would like to thank Deputy PCC for Staffordshire Sue Arnold and the Cadets for their wonderful hospitality. It was clear from listening to the Cadets share their experiences that the scheme has had an incredibly positive impact on their lives and I would encourage young people between the ages of 14 and 17 to take part in this brilliant local scheme. I have been very grateful to have been invited to many local volunteer led groups right across South Staffordshire over the summer benefitting so many different parts of society. I cannot thank the selfless volunteers enough who give up their time to teach and support others. On a personal note, it was a huge surprise and an honour that the Prime Minister asked me to join the Cabinet as the Chief Whip. I am looking forward to this new challenge as well as now having a voice for South Staffordshire at the very heart of Government.

Wild About Perton in September..... As I walk around Perton, I always look out for a favourite plant, fungi or bird at a particular spot, because, I’ve seen it there before so it’s likely I’ll see there again. Does that make sense? Yes, it does. Plants, birds and fungi are often found in the same places time and time again, because the local conditions support their way of life. It’s obvious, particularly for water birds such as the coots that love the weed and the security of a tower nest in the middle of the Upper Lake. Also for Canada geese; the close cut mown green space is just perfect grazing for the cow of the bird world. I’ll always associate Bluebell Walk, with blackcap, because that’s where I first spotted one of these delightful song birds in the shady dense undercover that suits them best. Similarly the copse between St Andrew's Drive and the Parkway is particularly good for fungi, with collared earthstar a regular, particularly in the autumn, and occasionally shaggy ink cap, also known as lawyers wig, because of its similarity to a barrister's white wig. The culverted river alongside Gainsborough Drive, is just the right spot for the flashing yellow, grey wagtail, to search out invertebrates on the river edge. The mire area in Bluebell Walk is damp, just the right for purple loosestrife and meadowsweet. Birds are free to roam from place to place but plants tend to live in communities of other plants, where the conditions suit them. The hard standing, now an open clearing in Bluebell Walk, was once a hangar floor for RAF Perton and, the one place where ash seedlings can’t grow despite the plentiful light. The hard surface is too harsh for many, but gradually over the last thirty years plants such as wild carrot and hare's-foot clover have begun to cover the concrete in a green carpet. Wild About Perton is supporting the Perton Village Show and Perton History Day on Saturday 17th September or join us for our next monthly wildlife walk on Saturday 1st October leaving Perton Library at 2pm.
