A Word From Your MP......................... Last year I wished the people of Wolverhampton a Merry Christmas, mine was spent as always, with my wonderful wife and three children. I would have it no other way. Let me begin 2015 therefore by wishing you and your families a very Happy New Year. I have taken stock of what inspires me about Wolverhampton and just what 2014 has meant to me. I was encouraged above all by the spirit and good will of Wolverhampton’s volunteers. In my recent visit to Compton Hospice, I found the love and support offered by staff and volunteers to those who need it admirable. Equally inspiring was my recent visit to Wolverhampton University, where the Unsung Heroes programme is helping our veterans and their families with exciting new business start-ups. These causes and others were deep in my thoughts this Christmas. I said in my last article that 2014 was a year that brought Wolverhampton a lot to be proud of. New Year however is a time of looking forward. After all, that is why we make resolutions. Here is one resolution that I will keep to you; in the next five months I will work tirelessly to earn re-election as your Member of Parliament. Over the last four years unemployment has fallen, with 2,840 young people in the area taking up apprenticeships. However, I am not complacent and I will continue to champion jobs in Wolverhampton for everybody. In the coming months I will be working to increase pride in our great city. I will therefore continue to staunchly oppose the wholly unfair parking charges being enforced on the city centre on Sundays, evenings and bank holidays. The Council should be supporting local businesses, not driving customers away. We want to encourage people to visit Wolverhampton, spend their money and generate more jobs. As we begin the New Year I am excited about 2015 and what this year can bring for Wolverhampton. To contact me call 01902 712 134 or email at paul.uppal.mp@parliament.uk

Café Ledene now open DAILY from 9:00am Monday – Saturday and from 10:00am Sunday ALL WELCOME - Golfers and non-Golfers Hot and Cold Food and Drinks served daily in beautiful picturesque setting

PGA Golf Tips from Jeremy Nicholls at Ledene Golf Centre..... How to make the most of your practice on the driving range: Quality over quantity when practicing on the driving range should be your main objective especially during these winter months when you are restricted from playing on the course during the inclement weather. Step 1 - Plan practice sessions at the driving range to make effective use of your time. Build up your sessions starting with wedges, then short irons, finishing the session with your hybrid and driver. Don't rush through a bucket of 100 balls. Get a bucket of 50 balls instead and play each shot as if you're on the golf course. Go through your full on-course, pre-shot routine before hitting a shot, including one or two practice swings. Step 2 - Hit to specific targets. The range will feature small greens or landing areas marked with yardages. Test your distance and accuracy by trying to land your ball as close to the markers as possible. When using your driver, simulate a fairway by trying to land your shot between two sets of flags or markers. Step 3 - It is also essential not to ignore your short game during the winter months. Ledene Golf offers a short game area where you can practice your short game. Try to spend as much time on the short-game area as you do on the driving range. Vary your bunker shots and your chip shots around the green and with your putts place several balls around the hole and practice trying to knock all of those in from different lengths.
