In the past the Banks and Building Societies have traditionally looked after us but many customers have lost faith and trust in them in recent years. The alternative is to seek out a Financial Adviser, which for many will be a scary prospect. All Financial Advisers are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and are charged with providing you as the client suitable Financial Advice. Financial Advisers don’t gamble with your money or guess what the markets are going to do, they use their knowledge, experience and skills to research the market and recommend the most suitable areas for investment that they can. Over the past few months we have seen uncertainty in the financial markets, a change of Prime Minister, a Brexit Vote and I haven’t even mentioned Jeremy Corbyn or Donald Trump. We can’t predict the future but there is likely to be further market uncertainty, whatever happens both here in the UK and in the wider world. Uncertainty may affect the markets in the short term and potentially in the longer term. The question then follows ‘ what should I do with my pension, savings and investments? ‘ You could put your money in the Bank or Building Society, seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser or put it in a suitcase under the bed. Whatever you choose there are risks involved and advantages and disadvantages. We would never advocate putting your money in a suitcase under the bed as inflation, theft or fire could seriously reduce your wealth. If you are going to invest in these uncertain times it is important to choose wisely and make informed decisions about your investments and your future. A Financial Adviser will complete a full factfind, assess your attitude to risk and choose the most suitable investment products and funds for you given all of your circumstances. There are investment products with a variety of different levels of risk, from low, low to medium, medium, medium to high and high risk. The returns on each will differ and your Financial Adviser can advise you on what’s best for you, your family and your future. If you would like an initial free, no nonsense, no obligation appointment with myself, Frank Cochran, Derek Baillie or Mark Mitchell then please give us a call or drop us an email. Call: 01902 422333 or Email: info@fscinvestments.co.uk We will always try to place your money in the most suitable place, at different times to suit your personal requirements.

A Word From Gavin Williamson............... This summer it was a relief to get back to South Staffordshire after the political unrest of the past couple of months. I recently visited volunteers and young people of KOSSMIC (Kids of South Staffordshire Making It Count) at Ounsdale High School during one their annual summer activity sessions. The Wombourne project runs for four weeks and hosts a range of activities such as kick boxing, table tennis and music and drama sessions for 9 to 15 year olds during the summer holidays. As well as a wide variety of activities on site the group organise excursions such as to Drayton Manor. During my visit I joined the group for a game of table tennis and, as expected, was thoroughly beaten. It was fantastic to see this group of young people having such a great time. This is a brilliant charity and it is always great to see all the hard work and the community coming together once again to support this project and to see young people enjoying themselves enjoying the wide variety of activities. The scheme takes place throughout the summer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Ounsdale High School. They also offer drop-in sessions where youngsters can socialise, play games and sporting activities. Teenagers also have the opportunity to train to act as mentors to younger children in the group which is a great way of encouraging them to take on a new role and I believe is especially valuable for the whole community. It is brilliant to see the group promoting the role played by young people our communities giving them opportunities to learn new skills and build their confidence, teamwork and interpersonal skills. I was particularly pleased to see that KOSSMIC has volunteers of a variety of ages working with young people. I would like to thank the volunteers who give up their summers to help run this wonderful group and encourage Wombourne residents to get as much out of their summer as possible. On a personal note, it was a huge surprise and an honour that the Prime Minister asked me to join the Cabinet as the Chief Whip. I am looking forward to this new challenge as well as now having a voice for South Staffordshire at the very heart of Government.

Tips From Your Local PGA Pro at Perton Park..... What a great Olympic Gold Medal Win by Justin Rose, this Month it’s a tip from him. Sometimes there’s so much to think about on the course, you can forget to think about a very important detail: Where you’re aiming. We’ve all caught ourselves doing it at some point. You’ve got some swing thought in your head or you’re so obsessed with not making another bogey that you end up just putting the club down haphazardly and swinging away. There’s no point in putting a good swing on the ball if you’re not even aimed at a specific target. To help make sure you’re aimed correctly, try Olympic gold medal winner Justin Rose’s alignment trick. “I try to go with clear targets,” says Rose. “If there's someone wearing an orange sweater two yards left of the flag, that's what I'm zeroing in on.” Since there probably isn’t a gallery following you around, look for a certain tree behind the green that you want to hit at, or a bush, or sign. Any object that’s easy to pick out and won’t move during your pre-shot will work. “To aim, I draw an imaginary line from my target to the ball,” says Rose. “Then I choose an intermediate target on that line about six feet in front of me. I square the club to the shorter target, then take my stance.” It’s hard to line up to something that’s a few hundred yards away. By lining up to an intermediate target, you’re giving yourself a chance to line up more accurately. Dial in that intermediate target, and your good swings won’t go to waste. Get out on the course and try it before the Winter arrives!
