ACADEMICS Students don’t just learn from textbooks at Peru State, they also learn through engagement and hands-on activities. Many of our students have been nationally recognized for their undergraduate research, character, athletics achievement and in academic competition. As Nebraska’s first college, Peru State College is proud of the 150+ years it has served students in and out of the classroom. Founded in 1867, Peru State has transformed from one building with 60 students into a state-of-the-art institution offering a multifaceted education to more than 2500 students. Peru State College has been regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since the organization’s inception in 1915. The College also is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and is a member institution of the Nebraska State College System. Student surveys conducted in the spring of 2018 found that Peru State College provided more satisfactory service in all areas than the national average and its midwestern peers. Twelve areas were surveyed and found more satisfactory including Academic Advising, Instructional Effectiveness, Student Centeredness and Responsiveness to Diverse Populations.

KORTNIE SHEPPARD Class of 2021 “When I chose to attend Peru State I knew right away that I wanted to be involved on campus. Since my freshman year, I have been involved in the Psychology Club and the Black Student Union. Being a part of these clubs has helped me branch out in so many different ways. Besides being a part of clubs on campus, one of my other favorite things about attending Peru State is having such amazing professors who you are able to connect with not only on an educational level but also on a personal level. The professors here really do care for their students. Peru State College has so much to offer. Come take a tour and see just what I am talking about!”
JALEN TATE Class of 2021 “I believe the School of Professional Studies has one of the best departments here at Peru State College. All of the professors are very well spoken and have a great deal of experience in their field of study. This experience is brought to the classroom and helps students have a better understanding and feel for their career interests and choices. I am very grateful to be able to work with these professors as they help me map out my future. As an undergraduate student trying to plan for life after college, the School of Professional Studies has definitely steered me in the right direction.”
NICHOLAS HOHENSEE Class of 2019 “The Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) was a way for me to take my passion for health sciences to the next level. I was initially attracted to Peru State through this program, but soon learned that my experiences at PSC would be more than I could have imagined. Having completed my time at Peru State and moving to the next level, it is very clear that the faculty in the natural sciences department has thoroughly prepared its students. I would encourage anyone interested in a health profession to visit with PSC’s RHOP coordinators and apply.”

VIVIAN BROWN Class of 2021 “I love being a student-athlete at Peru State College! As a student-athlete, I am able to play the sport that I love while getting a degree to become a teacher. Peru State has given me a family that I know I can count on and rely on for anything and everything that I need and for that, I’m forever grateful. The student-athlete experience has taught me how to prioritize my time and involvements on campus. It has been a challenge balancing club involvement, academics, work, and the golf team but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Peru State College has given me the best experience I could ask for.”
