In memory of the late Andy Jackson (1971-2004) Scottish Coast to Coast sponsored Cycle Ride
Supporting Disability Snowsport at Xscape Braehead This December will see the 10th anniversary of the death of Andy Jackson, at the age of 33, an event that robbed the Scottish outdoor scene of an extraordinary personality. In a truly inspirational life he was a campaigner, kayaker, paraglider and skier. He was known for his worldwide catalogue of first descents, wherever there is white water, and for his work as a superb youth worker. Above all he will be remembered for his ability to befriend and inspire everyone he met. Andy’s parents, Graeme and Kate Jackson, are to cycle the 115 miles from Gourock to North Berwick, (meeting their own expenses), and hoping to raise £5000 to buy a special adaptive ski chair for Disability Snowsport UK, for the use of a local group who meet at the Xscape Indoor Ski Slope, and also some kind of adaptive kayak for Castle Semple Loch at Lochwinnoch, where Andy first ventured into a kayak and where, by the car park, there is an inscribed memorial rock known locally as ‘Andy's Stone’.
