Portfolio Peter Winterburn
Teaching was supplemented by guest speakers and external workshops and site visits. Working in multidisciplinary teams, the participants work across 3 projects increasing in complexity and scale, The final project “Akenside Hill being a mixed use development on a complex site. There were no strict requirements for the project, the focus of the program was to understand and implement BIM on a live project environment. Assessment - Presentation to prospective Employers & Programme Sponsors

site context
_Akenside Hill is a mixed use, urban infill development located on steep hill leading to Newcastle’s Quayside. The site straddles the Tyne Bridge and All Saints Church. The scheme encompaces the the site with staggered levels and large external spaces. The public spaces form to the shape of the site in contact to the geometric, modular private spaces above (Upper). The Curvaceous Public spaces serve as a reflection of the winding streets and meandering rivers of the locality. The elevated restaurant provided glimpsing views through buildings and structures. The Modular Private scheme shifts across the horizontal plane creating a stacked/staggered effect, Intended to divide the mass of the building and to allow views into and out of the garden spaces. The scheme takes inspiration and rational from Shipping Container building such as Boxpark, Shoreditch (Lower).
