BREED SPECIFIC FORMULATION GOLDEN RETRIEVER (#69) Golden Retriever's original developed as a hunting dog. The Golden is one of six breeds that produces oils through the skin and no skin dander. It is very important that they receive the proper amount and balance of dietary fatty acids to produce the oil. The Golden requires proper balance of fatty acids (linolenic, linoleic, and oleic) a in its daily diet, it only produces the arachidonic acid its body requires to make the skin oils. The proper source and balance of these fatty acids can change a dry, dull and brittle coat into one that would make any Golden Retriever proud. The best sources of fatty acids for this breed of dog are linseed oil and cold pressed corn oil or wheat germ oils. Soy oil should be avoided. The Golden Retriever should be fed a diet that includes wheat, potato, poultry, cabbage, spinach, fresh poultry and beef. Avoid processed food and food blends that contain ocean fish, soy, oats, beet pulp, or white rice.
