BREED SPECIFIC FORMULATION POMERANIAN (#107) The Pomeranian is a direct descendent of a thirty pound British herding dog transported to an area of North Central Europe during the Middle Ages. There this thirty pound dog was bred with a smaller breed from Iceland and the breed we now know as the Pomeranian developed. It was for the Prussian province of Pomerania, where this cross breeding took place, that the resulting toy sized herding was named. The ancestral food would have been rye, oats, sugar beets, barley, wheat, beef cattle and pork as well as fish from both the Baltic Sea and many fresh water rivers. These food sources gave the Pomeranian its basic nutritional requirements. The Pomeranian should be fed a diet of fresh fish, beef, bison, rye wheat, beet pulp, spinach and cabbage. Avoid process food and food blends containing poultry, lamb, rice, or soy.
