Greencore Fundraising Targeting Local Businesses-Elementary

Page 1

Elementary Students How to Target Local Businesses Local businesses love to be involved in fundraisers! Reaching out to local restaurants and stores can be done in a few ways: send a letter or an email or meet with someone at the business.

MAKE a plan!

Create a plan with your group and parents/advisors about how you will reach out to businesses. Create a list of which businesses you would want to speak to and decide how you will do it.

Writing letters

When writing a letter to a business, it’s important to include a few things: a well-written letter about your fundraiser, information about the bags they can buy (sell sheet), and the flyer with the campaign code. Use this letter as a template for your own (be sure to ask for help from a parent/advisor about adding your own information). Properly address the letter and envelope to ensure delivery.

Emailing

When emailing a business, you will include the same information that was in the letter, but you want to make sure you add the Greencore Fundraising Bags website so businesses can easily purchase your bags.

Meeting with the business

If you want to meet with someone at the business, first you must talk to an adult about setting up a meeting with someone and driving you there. Greet the person you are meeting with a strong handshake (practice with your friends first!) and confidently tell them your name. Use the marketing script from the Resource page to help you explain your fundraiser.
