Mandatory Safety Training

All associates are required to participate in and pass our mandatory Safety Training on the first day of work. Some of the important topics covered in this training include: Lock-out Tag-out, Machine Safeguarding, Proper Lifting Techniques, and Pinch Point Awareness.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Petoskey Plastics provides each associate with personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and ear plugs. There are reimbursement programs for annual associate purchases of safety shoes and prescription safety glasses.

Housekeeping

To ensure our associates are staying safe and healthy, there are standard housekeeping procedures in place. Our facilities are regularly sanitized and there are protocols in place to help prevent associates from getting sick.

EVACUATION | EMERGENCY STOPS | EYE WASH & FIRST AID | PINCH POINT AWARENESS | MACHINE SAFEGUARDING | FORK LIFT SAFETY LOCKOUT-TAGOUT | SLIPS, TRIPS, & FALLS | PROPER LIFTING TECHNIQUES | HAZCOM | BLOODBORNE PATHOGENS | ACTIVE SHOOTER

In an effort to keep all associates safe and improve their quality of life while at work, Petoskey Plastics promotes a “Safety First” culture. In addition to following individual plant safety rules, Cardinal Rules have been established, which are universal throughout all Petoskey Plastics installations.

Safety Audits

Each location conducts safety audits at least once a month to make sure jobs and conditions within the facility are meeting standards for safety and housekeeping.

Safety Committee

Each location elects safety committee members on a yearly basis. The safety committee is responsible for supporting the Safety Mission Statement and the goals of the committee, spreading awareness to associates, supervisors, and managers about safe work practices, and conducting monthly facility audits.

Emergency Response Team

Petoskey Plastics incorporates emergency response training two times a year at all locations to strengthen our response capabilities in order to keep everyone safe and our customers supplied with product.
