FAQ
Who is behind Room39? The designer and founder Petra Green, Slovene born - East London based, wife and mother of two. After graduating in Textile and Fashion Design from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in late 90’s, Petra worked for a number of years as fashion and lingerie designer both in her home county and UK, counting big high street names like M&S and Debenhams as clients. With the lifestyle overhaul of becoming a parent, her focus turned to home-life and as a designer, to home-decor. Petra launched Room39 in September 2010 at Tent London.
What is Room39 about? It’s a space inhabited by a particular brand of aesthetic with a distinctive preference for bold abstract patterns, bright colours and glamorous accents. A lifestyle brand, dedicated to creating playful, modern furnishings and accessories with a twist on tradition and subtle retro undertones, bringing to market a more democratic design that would appeal to men and women alike.
Where are Room39 products manufactured? All of our products are manufactured in either UK or Slovenia and the materials we use are also of European origin. Most of our UK made products are printed entirely by hand in London, with the exception of the At An Angle range where we combine factory printed base with hand printed colour accents. The cushions are then assembled either at the Working Well Trust, a London based charity providing training and employment for people who have experienced mental health problems , or hand made in our east London studio. The new POPknit range and Fragment kitchen textiles are printed and manufactured in Slovenia by a small family run factory, whereas our Kickstarter funded Knit Knit bedding is produced by Stead and McAlpin of Carlisle - fine English printers since 1835! We also collaborate with local artist and crafts people, working as far as possible in a sustainable way in marrying craft techniques and modern technology.

Room39 furnishings caught the attention of influential publications like Elle Decor,Elle Interior, LivingEtc, Mollie Makes, House Beautiful, Deco Home, Sunday Times Home supplement and Financial Times How To Spend It, but to name a few. We have also been featured in some of the top international interior and design blogs like Design Milk, Design Sponge, Bright Bazar, Bloesem, Pattern and Print, Plenty of Colour, Home girl London, Happy Interior Blog ... the list continues...
