Suicidal Callers TCOLE #5307

WHAT
This course will cover suicidal callers. Students will learn terminology related to suicide, study statistics of suicide, determine suicide risk factors, recognize suicide warning signs, and gain skills for processing calls from suicidal persons and persons finding a completed suicide.
WHY
There are an average 117 suicides per day. Telecommunicators must be able to recognize suicidal ideation in callers and possess the skills necessary to build rapport with suicidal callers. This will help Telecommunicators to determine the caller’s location, encourage them to get help, and ensure the safety of callers, bystanders, and responders.
WHO
This course will be taught by Tina Chaffin, ENP. Tina has 20 years experience in the public safety industry. She is very passionate about training Telecommunicators. Tina is a Master Telecommunicator and a TCOLE Advanced Instructor.
