Keith Haring è stato uno dei maggiori esponenti del movimento culturale di artisti che a New York negli anni ’80 ha dato vita alla cultura “urban street”. A preminent artist whose work responded to urban culture, Keith Haring rose to international fame during the 1980’s and his stature as an artist and purveyor of popular culture has continued to grow ever since. He developed a unique visual lexicon whose essential concepts were conveyed by the simplest of symbols - energy waves, hearts, glowing babies (his most famous lifegiving symbol) and antic Everyman figures Instantly recognizable, Haring’s imagery has transcended its era to become a universally acknowledged visual language of the 20th century.

Keith Haring fut l’un des principaux représentants du mouvement culturel d’artistes qui à New-York, dans les années 80, a donné naissance à la culture “urban street”. Il a créé et développé un lexique visuel unique en son genre dont les concepts essentiels – naissance, mort, amour et guerre ont été transmis par le plus simple des symboles - ondes d’énergie, cœurs, enfants incandescents (son symbole le plus célèbre qui donne la vie) - et des graffitis anciens.
