Experience We have been operating activity camps in the UK and Europe for over 60 years and each year more than 350,000 students learn, develop and succeed in the safe and friendly environment of a PGL camp. In Australia, too, we are pioneers of setting new standards in all that we do.
Safety Our number one priority is always the safety of you and your group. Our teams are carefully selected and highly trained, and our two camps in Victoria both have ATAP accreditation.
Supporting you
INTRODUCTION
Unique to PGL, your Group Leader (‘Groupie’) will work with you throughout your stay and ensure that everything runs smoothly to get the most out of your time away. Many of our activities are delivered by PGL trained instructors (see pages 20-21 for details) who ensure that your students receive professional instruction and enjoy a real sense of achievement.

Activity Camp Inspiring adventures
How it works
A PGL Activity Camp is all about learning new skills and having fun in the outdoors.
We help you create your own tailor-made program from our range of exciting adventure activities.
It’s about paddling, climbing, and jumping; teamwork and decision-making; achievement and confidence.
Adventures on land, adventures in the water and adventures up in the air - all designed to challenge and motivate your students.
It’s about bringing out the best in your students as they realise their potential and widen their horizons.
There are exciting activity sessions each day. Some are led by trained PGL instructors while others are designed to be delivered by teachers in order to build relationships with their students. And in the evenings our fun-filled entertainment program, led by your PGL Group Leader, is guaranteed to keep your students engaged and happy until bedtime.

Great activities, staff and organisation. We were assigned a leader who regularly checked in with us to see how things were going – which was great. This is the only camp I have been to which does this.

Orientation Camp Facing change with confidence
How does it work?
Changing schools is a big step that can be challenging for any child as they cope with new situations, new friends and unfamiliar environments.
Adventure activity sessions are tailored to meet your objectives and designed to stimulate learning, growth and confidence.
A PGL Orientation Camp helps students meet these challenges and build the foundations of a successful school career.
Our instructors help your students assess and understand what they have learnt in the activity sessions and how this impacts on their behaviour.
It‘s an ideal way to encourage your year groups to bond, build trust and forge stronger relationships with each other and with you, their teacher.
The program is ideal for getting the new school year off to a motivating and inspiring start, for whole year groups as well as single classes.

Safety & Standards PGL’s Safety Management System has been developed over more than 60 years of operation in the UK and Europe to meet the requirements of students, parents, teachers, school councils and external accreditation schemes. Our policies and procedures meet state and federal Education Safety Guidelines and we ensure we also comply with and exceed the guidance set out in the Activity Standards for Adventurous Activities. n Roles and responsibilities are clearly set out for teachers and PGL staff to ensure there is a clear understanding of who is responsible for the students at all times, with particular reference being made to the delivery of activities, First Aid and dealing with emergencies. n Our Child Safe Policy outlines our procedures to keep children safe from harm and abuse. It achieves this by promoting the safety of children, managing the risks and ensuring effective processes are in place to report any allegations of child abuse. n Our recruitment and training policies ensure competent staff are deployed to undertake the specialist roles within the delivery of the programs.
Camp/Adventure Activity Provider Accreditation PGL is proud to have received accreditation from the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP) - Camp/Adventure Activity Accreditation for Camp Rumbug and Campaspe Downs. Details of the accreditation process can be found at www.atap.net.au
Travel Transport is not included in the price of your camp; if you require transport, please contact us and we’d be delighted to help.
n We appoint a highly qualified and experienced team of technical advisors to monitor and audit the delivery of the PGL experience. n By arranging teacher inspection visits and working closely with your school prior to travel to implement a robust risk assessment process, we can ensure that teachers are familiar with the activities and the environment and that the educational content of all programs meets the learning outcomes for students. n We seek to conserve the natural environment, endorsing the principles of sustainable use and minimum impact. We are sensitive to the impact of our operation on the local community and cultural setting and we endeavour to minimise any adverse effects. n An Emergency Management Plan has been developed working with local agencies and is in place to respond to incidents such as injury, illness and fire. n Public Liability Insurance Certificate (minimum $20 million) is provided by an APRA approved insurer.

Most changes will be minor and all will be advised at the earliest possible date. In the unlikely event of it proving necessary to alter significantly or cancel your program, we will offer a suitable alternative if available or 100% refund (within 14 clear days) if we are not able, in our opinion, to offer an alternative that is sufficiently comparable. We cannot be held responsible for the loss of enjoyment or additional expenses incurred due to delays or changes in any travel arrangements or other services which are caused by circumstances amounting to force majeure such as war, the threat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, actual or threatened terrorist activity, act of God, industrial dispute, governmental action, epidemic, disease, adverse weather or natural or nuclear disaster, or any circumstance which is beyond our direct control. Our liability in all cases (except those involving illness, injury or death) is limited to 50% of the invoiced tour value per passenger in addition to a full refund. We cannot be held responsible for the failure or inability of any equipment or computer program to recognise or correctly interpret or process any date as the true or correct date, or to continue to function correctly beyond that date. 9. Complaints Procedure If there is any problem with your program, we want to be the first to hear about it. It is essential that you contact the Camp Manager as soon as possible so that we can try to rectify the situation on the spot. In the unlikely event that the matter remains unresolved, please write to us immediately on your return and we will do our utmost to find a satisfactory solution. Written notice is required of any claim or dispute and must be received by us within 28 days of the date on which the program ended. 10. Personal Property Your personal property, including baggage, is your own responsibility at all times, unless any loss or damage is due to our negligence or failure to carry out our responsibility. 11. Supervision Teachers and/or other adults accompanying the party agree to act ‘in loco parentis’ at all times and will adequately supervise all members of the party. Where applicable, this responsibility is delegated to PGL camp staff e.g. for activity sessions. It is the Party Leader’s responsibility to ensure that: a) No group member under 18 consumes alcoholic beverages. b) No student smokes on coaches, in any accommodation, in any smoke-free places or behaves in any other way which may cause a fire hazard. c) All party members wear the lap belts provided for all journeys by coach. d) No student breaks an Australian law. These matters must be discussed with party members prior to your program. If you require further clarification of responsibilities for the supervision of visiting groups, we will provide this with your booking information.
13. Special Requests Any special requests must be clearly notified to us in writing. We cannot guarantee, however, that special requests will be fulfilled and failure to do so does not constitute a breach of contract. Special requests will only be held to form part of the contract between you and the Company when they have been confirmed in writing to be guaranteed by the Company. 14. Ages & Additional Adults a) Prices are valid for students in full time education, aged up to 18 years on the day of departure unless otherwise specified. Students in full time education aged over 18 may be required to pay a small supplement. b) Accompanying adults over and above the free place allowance may join the program at a supplementary charge, subject to availability of accommodation. c) PGL reserves the right to re-cost the course if more than 30% of the party is aged 21 years and over. 15. Additional Requirements We are continually working to enable all young people to enjoy the many benefits of our programs. If members of your party have additional requirements, relating for example to disability, culture, diet etc. please provide full details at the time of booking. We will be pleased to undertake a fair assessment of service provision and identify appropriate resources with reference to such considerations as access, successful participation and health and safety. 16. Data Protection & Privacy We have measures in place to protect the personal booking information held by us. The contact details supplied, including postal address, telephone and email address, will only be used to fulfil program/tour administration and to communicate details of PGL’s and our associated companies’ products and services, except as required by law. The personal information supplied about party members will only be used to allow our employees, agents, subcontractors and suppliers to provide the promised service to our normal high standards. We are unable to accept responsibility for the confidentiality of any information after it leaves our control. 17. Photography We occasionally take pictures/video for PGL promotional purposes, including, (but not limited to) online, printed material and press releases. If any member of your group wishes NOT to appear in any such photography/video please let us know in writing prior to your program, and once at the centre ensure that the PGL Group Leader with you is also made aware of any such restrictions. 18. If you do not wish to be quoted, please inform us on any written material you send us. 19. If we ascertain ourselves or are notified of any subsequent changes to the details contained herein, we will advise you as soon as is reasonably possible.
12. Travel Arrangements (if purchased separately) In brochure descriptions, PGL considers Day 1 as the day of arrival at the camp. The final day is the departure day from the camp. We use reliable operators offering modern, comfortable coaches with excellent back-up and breakdown cover. Please note the following details: a) All itineraries are agreed with coach companies prior to departure and adhere to strict driving regulations. b) Seat Belts in Coaches: By law, all coaches are required to be fitted with lap belts.
