MILITARY APPRECIATION WEEK M-NCPPC Supports Our Veterans

November 10 -16, 2019

M-NCPPC salutes our men and women who are serving and have served our country.

Dear Friends, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is honored to join with citizens across our County, State and Nation in observing Veterans’ Day and remembering the often unheralded contributions of those brave men and women who have selflessly given — and continue to give — of themselves in military service to our country. As an expression of our tremendous gratitude for your overwhelming service and sacrifice, I am proud to announce that the Commission, in partnership with Prince George’s Veterans Stand Down, has proclaimed the week of November 10–16, 2019 as “Military Appreciation Week” in Prince George’s County! During this week, our Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer FREE admission to an extensive selection of M-NCPPC facilities and activities for active and retired military and their families. Veterans, active military and their families are invited to visit our golf courses, ice rinks, indoor aquatics facilities, community centers and much more. We welcome your participation in activities and classes at sites all around the County… ALL FREE OF CHARGE and ALL FOR YOU! Just check out the full list, contact information and hours of operation in this brochure. Of course, there are activities for ALL ages and ability levels. Please let us know in advance if you require special accommodations. We hope that, by sampling some of these activities, you and yours will be encouraged to sign-up to participate in other M-NCPPC programs and services in the County, including our unique “Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies” program for veterans with a disability. Please visit pgparks.com for more information, or contact our Special Programs division at 301-446-3400. We can never fully demonstrate the magnitude of our appreciation for all that you— our military, veterans and your families — provide, and have provided, to our country. However, we hope that this special week-long celebration at our award-winning parks and facilities will help us say “Thank You” in some small way. I extend deepest appreciation to our active and retired military for your bravery and service. Please enjoy “Military Appreciation Week”! Best regards,

Elizabeth M. Hewlett Chairman, PGCPB & M-NCPPC
