Project Activity Update River Bend Multimodal Improvements (Phase II) 

Installation of pedestrian and bicycle improvements along River Bend from Sunset to Frontera  Extension of existing hike and bike path between Turnstone and Sunset  Installation of bollard lighting from Sunset to Frontera

Today’s action was to approve the construction contract for the project

Project Activity Update River Bend Pedestrian Improvements Phase III    

Project will provide a pedestrian path and landscaped parkway with street trees and shrubs Additional parking for Braden Aboud Park will be evaluated Limits are on the easterly side of River Bend from Frontera to approximately 1,020 feet south of Sunset Provide a path to the Braden Aboud Park and spray park, as well as to Zach White Elementary School Today’s City Council action provided for the design and construction administration for the project

Project includes:  Community center  Indoor competition‐ready 50‐meter pool  Outdoor recreation aquatic area

Today’s amendment was for additional design services for:  Expand lazy river  Increase size of the children and family pools  Increase amount of shade  Install two climbing walls  Add Baja deck  Add family restrooms  Install FlowRider “Delivering Outstanding Services”

Project Activity Update Dyer RTS Pedestrian Enhancements  

Project will provide enhanced pedestrian elements along the Dyer RTS route at four locations Includes sidewalk and curb ramp repairs, textured crosswalks, street trees, and additional pedestrian elements Today’s Council action awarded the construction contract for the project

Project Activity Update Street Resurfacing 

Project provides an acceleration of the street resurfacing program  Includes segments of 8 of the top 25 most traveled arterials throughout El Paso  George Dieter  Hawkins  McCombs  Railroad  Resler  Rojas  Viscount  Yarbrough  Includes 120 segments of residential roadways throughout El Paso

Bids will open November 22, 2017 “Delivering Outstanding Services”

Project Activity Update Pavement Condition Index (PCI) 

Project will consist of a citywide PCI study  Each roadway will be evaluated and allow for forecasting and prioritizing future roadway maintenance improvements  Study completion allotted is 270 days

 

Currently under the Request for Qualifications process Anticipated award by City Council in January 2018

Project Activity Update Alicia and Flower Street Reconstruction  

Project involves full street reconstruction of Alicia from Flower to Barcelona and Flower from Francis to Encino Project includes installation of major drainage structures

Anticipated construction award in January 2018

Project Activity Update Downtown Pedestrian Wayfinding   

“Phase II” of the pedestrian wayfinding in downtown El Paso Base bid of 6 kiosks, with alternates of 3 additional kiosks To be placed at key locations in the central business district to provide directional information to pedestrians

Project Activity Update El Paso Zoo Chihuahuan Desert 

 

Project includes a themed contiguous area, with a series of related animal habitats to replicate and resemble the typical arroyo features of the Chihuahuan Desert to include a flash flood feature Contain habitats for the projected animal species Upcoming Council action in January 2018 for the Guaranteed Maximum Price

Project Activity Update E.L. Williams Park Improvements 

Some of the amenities that this project is providing includes  New parking lot  Plaza with picnic tables  Age appropriate playground with shade canopy  Landscaping

Anticipated award of construction in late January 2018

Project Activity Update Happiness Senior Center 

Interior modification and improvements to the existing facility  Renovate multiple rooms and provide new multi‐activity room  Provide accessible stage, upgrade HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems  Install new landscaping and picnic equipment

Project Activity Update Memorial Park Senior Center  

The project will provide replacement of the majority of the interior flooring throughout the center, along with asbestos abatement Exterior improvements will include construction of huacha courts, picnic tables with shade, park benches, and new landscaping Anticipated construction award in early February 2018

Project Activity Update Richard Burges Library 

Project will be renovating the existing library  Improvements include new children’s area, expanded computer lab, expanded program room, additional room enhancements, and other amenities  Notice to proceed anticipated for construction in January 2018

Construction of parking areas at four Trailheads  Lazy Cow, Roundhouse, Thunderbird, Thousand Steps Include amenities such as landscaping, wayfinding kiosk with signage, lighting, and pet waste stations Anticipated construction award to be considered by City Council in January 2018

Project Activity Update Aquatics Facilities  

Design and construction of two family aquatic parks  Chelsea and Lionel Forti Design of two family aquatic parks  Located in Districts 1 and 4

Key amenities include lap pool with climbing wall and volleyball net, lazy river, two water slides, toddler pool with zero depth entry, shade canopies, party room, concessions, restrooms

 

Anticipated design award consideration by Council January 2018 Anticipated CMAR award consideration by Council March 2018
