Additional Benefits •
Reduced costs
•
Improved functionality and resiliency of the electric grid
•
Better informed and improved infrastructure investments
•
Enhanced customer energy management tools
•
Facilitate future deployment of electric vehicles, electric buses and charging stations
•
Improved real-time customer information for private solar customers with distributive generation
•
Remove more carbon from the air by better aligning grid, customer usage, and environmental capabilities
How do we begin… •
A Smart City, in partnership with regional municipalities, businesses, utilities and educational institutions, announces a new economic development initiative that invests in the economic health of our region.
•
A major catalyst for a successful Smart Communities Initiative is for a Smart City to ask their electric utility to analyze and implement Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), of which Smart Meters is a main component.
•
In Texas, state law can be clarified to address the regulatory treatment of AMI infrastructure.
