ZUELLIG BUILDING in Makati City was the first development in the Philippines which was awarded LEED Platinum. Arcadis provided full LEED Consultancy services for the project.

Since 2008, our Environmental Sustainability Team has been successful in achieving the green building certification goals of more than forty local and international projects. These include eight projects which earned the prestigious LEED Platinum rating, the first WELL certified building in the country, and a 5-Star BERDE certification. We continue to be leaders in the industry, overseeing certification of more than 20 projects at a time.
In total, our work in green building certifications can be translated to more than 3 million square meters of developed space, equivalent to more than PhP 100 Billion worth of building projects.

Arcadis, through our LEED Consultancy service, provides clients with full technical support, from project conception to building turnover, to guarantee sustainability goals are established and realized. The Philippine Green Building Council (PHILGBC) launched its own green building rating system in November 2010. BERDE, which stands for Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence, is now mandatory in cities such as Pasig and Mandaue. Through our Certified BERDE Professionals, we can assist project teams in understanding the synergies among the BERDE categories and guide them towards BERDE Certification.
We spend 90% of our time indoors and this demands that the spaces where we live, work and play are designed and constructed with health, well-being and productivity in mind. The WELL Building Standard is a human-centric framework with performance requirements ranging from indoor air, water, light and acoustic quality, to thermal comfort, aesthetics, nourishment, ergonomics, and mental health awareness. Arcadis provides full technical support both during documentation and verification phases in order for projects to achieve WELL Certification.
Commissioning is a systematic process for enhancing the delivery of a project. The process focuses on verifying and documenting that the facility and all of its systems and assemblies were planned, designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained to meet the owner’s project requirements. Through the management of trained commissioning agents, Arcadis ensures that quality outcomes are produced by the project design, construction, and operation sequence.
One of the defining features of any sustainable building is its energy efficiency. The aim of producing energy models is to ultimately reduce building energy consumption through Energy Efficiency Measures (EEM) which focus on optimizing the combined effect of the building envelope, HVAC systems, lighting, and equipment, without compromising project cost, occupant safety and comfort. Our energy consultants can produce computer simulations using programs such as eQUEST and DesignBuilder.

We seek and present options to add value to the design, while making certain that the goals established early in the project are maintained and translated into drawings and specifications.
We participate in the bid process by evaluating technical proposals, verifying that materials and equipment specifications are aligned with certification requirements prior to bid award.
We coordinate closely with contractors and onsite project managers to ensure compliance to certification requirements throughout the entire construction duration.
We liaise with relevant certification bodies for the award and issuance of green building certification of the project. Specific services also include monitoring of energy and water, as well as support for performance assessments post-occupancy.
FILINVEST AXIS TOWERS in Alabang, Muntinlupa City is a LEED Precertified master site development pursuing LEED NC for each of its four towers. Two towers were already certified in 2017. Arcadis Philippines, Inc. is currently providing full LEED consultancy services for the remaining 2 towers.
PROJECT EXPERIENCEA premium and luxury mixed-used project of Ayala Land Inc, the Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2 consists of five basement parking levels, four retail podium levels and a deck garden at the fourth floor. This high-rise office tower also has a helipad on its roof deck.
Located at the center of Makati Business District, the tower boasts of a sprawling landscaped area on its podium creating large open spaces which promote biodiversity and interaction with the environment. Another unique feature of the deck garden is onsite food production which offers herbs and fruit bearing plants for the building users’ consumption.
Its double-glazed façade will maximize views of Ayala Triangle Garden and fully utilize daylighting which significantly reduces the building energy demand. This combined with their efficient district cooling system is expected to reduce the whole building total energy cost by 17%.
The office tower is anticipating its LEED and WELL certification by 2020.
PROJECT EXPERIENCEMenarco Tower is a multi-storey boutique building situated at a prime location in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. It has more than twenty floors dedicated to office and commercial spaces, with parking at podium and basement levels.
One of its distinct features is its curtain wall cladding which is comprised of a high-performance IGU system and parapet glass walls with an innovative wood fin accent. The system is both appealing and effective in limiting entry of solar heat thus reducing the air-conditioning load to achieve optimum thermal comfort in the office environment. The tower also offers an edible garden next to its communal dining hall. Other notable green strategies include utilizing rainwater for irrigation, reusing greywater for flushing of toilet fixtures, and providing facilities for alternative modes of transportation such as bicycle parking and preferred parking for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles (LEFEV).
Precertified under LEED 2009 for Core and Shell in February 2015, the building received its Gold certification under the same rating system in September 2017 with a total of 70 points earned. Then in March 2019, Menarco Tower was awarded its WELL Gold certification, making it the first in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia to have both LEED and WELL certifications.
PROJECT EXPERIENCEARTHALAND Century Pacific Tower is Arthaland Corporation’s flagship office development located in Bonifacio Global City. At 31 stories, the building consists of 21 floors of office space, including two tall executive floors, a large public lobby, and a multilevel parking facility. The tower also features a rooftop garden terrace.
The building’s uniquely detailed facade system of overlapping glass which gradually changes in appearance with the building’s height is not only aesthetically appealing, it also provides optimal solar control, allowing for additional shading to the south and west. The façade also incorporates additional technologies designed to maximize energy efficiency— high-performing insulated glazing units with a low-e coating and frit pattern translates to a reduced utility cost.
This premium office building obtained both LEED Platinum and 5-star BERDE certification, a first in the Philippines.
