March 1994 BMX Plus! Magazine

BMX Community,

Thanks for finding and checking out this digital high-resolution PDF copy of the March 1994 BMX Plus! magazine. I made the decision to scan and upload this magazine to the internet as a way to help preserve this information and to make it more easily available to past, present, and future mid-schoolers and BMX enthusiasts alike. With that said, this digital magazine is available with the utmost respect to the original writers, producers, and publishers and this electronic magazine should not be seen as an attempt to take advantage, in any way shape or form, of the copyright holders of this material. Throughout the late-1990’s and early-2000’s, my brother, who is now a Pro street rider (http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/stranger/48933), and I had magazine subscriptions to BMX Plus!, Ride BMX, and Snap, but over the years, the vast majority of these magazines have been lost or were thrown out by our mother! And those few magazines that survived all these years are now starting to deteriorate – due to the many times that we’ve flipped through and read them. So after getting back into BMX after an eight year hiatus (I received a B.S. and an M.S. in civil engineering and environmental engineering, respectively), I started searching for electronic copies of the BMX magazines that we once had. However, after an extensive search of the internet, I couldn’t find even a single mid-school BMX magazine to view or download. I then went onto several BMX forums (e.g., BMXmuseum, OzBMX, VintageBMX, etc.) to see if I could find anyone who would be willing to mail me some old magazines to scan. Again, no luck. Then I turned to BMXmuseum, eBay, and my local Craigslist to see if I could purchase any of these magazines for a reasonable price. After a few months of searching, I finally found a seller (Russell Cook, a semi-retired professional freestyle rider from the mid-1980’s) who liked my enthusiasm and desire to purchase a collection of mid-school BMX magazines with the sole intent to scan them for others to enjoy. Because of this, Russ sold me ninety four (94) BMX Plus! magazines that spanned from 1993 to 2002 (see Table 1 below) and this is the first magazine that I’ve decided to scan! As you begin to flip through this magazine, you will notice that it’s not in the best condition and several pages (pp. 1-4, 73-76) are missing. If any of you own a complete copy of the March ’94 BMX Plus! mag that you would be willing to let me scan, please contact me (my contact information is provided below) and I will upload the complete digital magazine to my Issuu webpage (http://issuu.com/pharv85/docs) for redownload. Additionally, if you own any of the mid-school BMX Plus! magazines that are not listed in Table 1 (below), please contact me and I’ll try to scan these additional magazines too.

In order to make all of my mid-school BMX Plus! magazines available for others to enjoy, I’ve decided to give myself two years, beginning in January 2013, to scan all 94 magazines. Currently I am scanning one magazine per week and have started the following thread to track my progress and let others request those magazines that they would like me to scan first: (http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=479735).

Lastly, as many of you can imagine, it takes a TON of time to scan, rotate, crop, reformat, and combine the individual scanned high-resolution JPEG (.jpg) images into a continuous high-resolution Printable Document Format (PDF) document. As is the case, if any of you get the urge to repay me for scanning this or any other mid-school BMX Plus! magazine that I may scan, donations are always welcome. Donations can be sent to my PayPal account, which is: (peteh123@yahoo.com).

Thank you for your time, and I hope that this magazine brought back some great memories of the goodold-days (see Fig. 1 below). p.s., As of late, I spend quite a bit of time on BMXmuseum (I’m Museum member pharv85). Feel free to message me and check out my high-end mid-school race bikes!

Take care,
