Happy Holidays!! Today we Speak to, Ivory Destroyed: A Metal core band from Kenya made up of, Lawrence Muchemi (Vocals), Lenny Kiano (Guitarist), Dennis Anthony (Bassist) and Larry Kim (Drummer) Pb: How did you meet? ID: We met online. The first member of the band was Nelson who later on in 2013, left to study abroad. Lenny then contacted each of us through Facebook and things started rolling. Pb: How did you come up with the Band Name? ID: The name Irony Destroyed simply means Breaking through the Music Industry with a genre that is not popular in Kenya compared to others. Our music is Metal and that is what we wanted to give to the people hence destroying the myths and misconception about metal music. Pb: What are your songs about? ID: Each song has a different meaning. We have an EP that tells our journey and aspirations. Mostly the music is about freedom and fighting social injustices that people face. For example the Song 'Fight Back' is about a guy who has been kept captive for long by systems and he feels he can no longer hold back and is left with no option but to fight back and liberate himself. Pb:How long have you been in the Music industry? ID: 6 years. The band was formed in 2013 and we have released two singles so far i.e Awaken and Think Twice. Pb: How is it working as a band in relation to timing? ID: Time is very important for us as a band. Each year we ensure we have released at least more than 3 singles and also merchandise. This year we have been able to release several singles and more are in the
pipeline before the end of the year. Pb: Apart from Music, what do you do for fun as a group and as individuals? ID: We play some video games, hang out with other bands and friends. And also pay bills. Pb: What are your Christmas plans as a group and as individuals? ID: We plan on releasing MOAS(Mother Of All Singles) by the end of the year. Also, we will be updating our funs about our upcoming full length album and tours next year starting with Botswana where we have been invited along the seeds of Datura to perform. Pb: What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps? ID: We would tell them to create their own path and follow it. Try and be unique and consisted and you will reach the destination. Pb: Any Last Words? ID: We would love to give a big shout out to our fans and everybody that supports us. Also we ask people to keep tabs on our upcoming Album early next year.
