Pb: How was it working with Mayonde? SJ: Working with Mayonde was awesome, she is such a talented artist. I enjoyed working with her and learned a lot from her. Pb: You also worked on 'Kwanii Remix' alongside WEEZDOM, DJ SADIC, CANNIBAL, KRIS ERROH, HOLYDAVE, how was the Experience? SJ: This was also another great experience. The fact that Weezdom reached out to all of us, meant alot and as artistes, we should learn to share and work together. Pb:You are also a Dance Choreographer, how do you balance the two? SJ: Music and Dance go hand in hand and I enjoy these two God given gifts. Choreography is more like a song arrangement you have to understand each and every instrument plan and move to every sound. I just love what I do. Pb: What is your Real name and how did you come up with your Stage Name SJ: My names is WINSTON ALFRED KIARIE. STONEE, was derived from my real name, my family called me 'Stonee' and the name stuck. About JIWE, I just had to get creative with my normal name so I refixed it and that's how I came up with the stage name STONEE JIWE. Pb: How and When did you realize you want to get into Music? SJ: I love Music or can I say Music Loves Me. I started Writing my songs when I was in Form 2 and that's how the journey began. I am a musical person and enjoy every bit of the arrangement, the different sounds and the Art of coming up with something so Powerful. Pb: Why Gospel Hip Hop? SJ: I was raised in Christian home and I'm blessed with a Gift like no other. I chose Gospel music because I think I can reach a lot of people and share with them the Good News and inspire those who need to be Lifted.
Pb:How has your journey been during Twaweza Live as a Dance and an Artist? SJ: Twaweza Live has been a Great Experience and one of the most challenging tours I have ever done. Thanks to PHAT! and Safaricom this is such a Great platform. Pb:What advice would you give to any upcoming artist who looks up to you? SJ: Any upcoming artsist is a star in the making so He/She holds the key to success. They should work hard no matter the circumstances. It's not easy as long as the hold on to the dream and vision God will do the rest.

MY REAL NAME IS: KEVIN KARANJA. I GOT MY STAGE NAME FROM: the last 3 letters of my first name. I GOT INTO DEEJAYING: because of my passion for music and interest to be in control. It is fulfilling to me controlling the mood of a crowd with something I love and enjoy doing. After joining Homeboyz Entertainment in 2010, what I took to be just a passion was turned into a business. The management packaged me as a Dj and Radio host which in some cases forced me to step out of my comfort zone to get things done. This changed my mind set and made me grow. It was in 2014 when I started my own company to mentor fresh acts into the field as a way of giving back what I acquired from my mentors to benefit others. MY MAJOR CHALLENGE WHEN STARTING OUT: was my dad not taking me seriously at first. He was passive about the whole idea till he noted my commitment and began seeing the fruits of what started out as a passion getting me an income.
MY MAJOR CHALLENGE I HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH ON THE JOB: is Trust. As days go by my circle gets smaller but more productive. IT’S BEEN: 9 years Since I started. DJ VIN AS A BRAND COULD BE DESCRIBED AS? An entertainer, media personality and most importantly the go-to Dj for businesses calling out for entertainment related solutions. MY MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR ARE: Cashing in my passion successfully to be of service to the people, Investing in a network of people who are a call away in getting things done & My mentorship program dubbed as the Invasion Unit. IF YOU WEREN’T A DJ, I WOULD BE? A rally car driver since I’m passionate on motorsports, especially fast cars. discjockeyvin

The Beaters evolved through time to become Harari, one of the most successful acts to emerge from the country in the '70's. Harari dominated the music scene of the 1970's in South Africa, even being invited to perform in the USA with Hugh Masekela in 1978. During this tour, the band's leader Selby Ntuli died, leaving Sipho as the new leader. Harari supported and backed Percy Sledge, Timmy Thomas, Letta Mbula, Brook Benton and Wilson Pickett on their South African tours. This eclectic ensemble was mixing funk and disco with jazz, while also using traditional African instruments to create a completely unique sound that many tried, but failed to imitate. They were the ultimate party band, yet boasted some of the best musicians around at the time, such as Alec Khali and Lionel Petersen. Harari split in 1982 but will forever hold legendary status as one of South Africa's most important musical acts. Sipho continued his career with the release of his most important single in 1985. 'Burn Out' catapulted Sipho to a new level of fame as he became a household name almost overnight. Released the year PW Botha, the former President, declared a state of emergency, this impeccably funky township disco jive jam became the first major crossover hit in South Africa, selling over 500,000 copies. Over the years his song has been remixed by international deejays and covered by many of South African artists and therefore qualifies as a classic track of the 80's.
S
ipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse is one of the South Africa’s best-loved and most respected musicians; more than just a musician or an artist, he is a legend.
He was born in Johannesburg in 1951 and from the age of 8 began playing the drums - the instrument that he would master to such a degree that he would be termed '+RWVWL[' his whole life. A competent musician, Mabuse mastered many instruments: the drums, flute, piano, saxophone, kalimba, alto flute, timbales and African drums. Music affected Sipho at a very young age with influences from his grandfather and uncles, who were traditional singers of scatamiya music (a choral type music sung mainly by men). He began his career as a professional musician at the age of 15 when, during his high school years, he formed his first band The Beaters.

In 1996 after a ten-year silence he returned with the album Township Child that brought him back into the musical foreground. A number of albums followed including two live CD's in 2005 and 2006 that captured the magic of a Sipho performance. In fact, throughout the course of Sipho's 30 year career, he has become a South African musical ambassador, performing in virtually every country in Africa and touring USA, England, France, Germany and Italy to many others. He has also recorded and produced many legendary artists such as Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela, Ray Phiri and Sibongile Khumalo.
