ENNAIRA Pb: Introduce Yourself & How you got your stage name E: I’m a singer - songwriter and performing artist. I perform mostly with: Bagira, my ukulele or with the band: Bohemia. I’m also a cosplayer by passion. My name came to be in my early high school years when people were messing around and started reversing their first names. I didn’t start using it until later on in my senior high school years when my ambitions for music solidified. Pb: How long have you been in the Music Scene? E: Music intrigued me from a very early age. Participating in School Projects, taking on the Violin in Primary School and writing songs since I was 11. However, in the current music scene, I would say about 3years as I released some songs in 2017 and started performing more so in 2018. Pb: How would you describe your Style of Music ? E: As I am not specifically inclined to any one genre, I would say my music is Afro-Fusion, but I do lean towards Blues, Jazz and sometimes Reggae melodies and sounds in my music. Pb: How did your Parents react when you decided to go into music? E: My parents were very supportive and were happy that I came to them and shared what I honestly wanted to do. I believe it’s because growing up they played us a wide range of music. They’ve both helped me greatly in their support ; with my dad teaching me different skills and tricks to better myself and performances & my mum giving constructive criticism and coming to shows, usually with the rest of my family who are also very supportive. Pb: How did you end up going to Sauti Academy? E: A friend suggested I should check it out, as I had prior education in music. I spoke to my parents about it and they thought it was a wonderful idea. The audition day was really nerve-wracking because I had another event that day and so my brother and I were decked in full cosplay but I was

happy to be called for the second and now the rest is history. I’m very grateful and pleased that I chose to take their advice as I learned so much from Sauti, not just from our mentors but from a bunch of talented artists whom I can now call my friends. Pb: What are your biggest challenges starting out after school? E: I believe it’s trying to find gigs that are respectful to an artist in the sense of payment. Performance for exposure is something that is hurting the industry and needs to be stopped. Mental health has also been a challenge, but I’m taking each day as it comes and reminding myself that the future is never guaranteed because yesterdays today just might be the last. Also, it’s never that serious. LOL Pb: So far, which is your most memorable Performance and why? E: At the moment, I’d say my graduation concert in July at Alliance Francaise, because there was something electric that day and I honestly don’t know if it was anxiety, excitement or stress. My band was on point from their get up to how we played together, having my family and friends being the most amazing audience members and graduating in general! It felt unreal for a bit, until we had to set down. I also felt very beautiful that day while performing. But some honourable mentions would be at The Elephant, Dagoz, Wild Tymez (Minnesota) & The Minnesota Music Café. Pb: Who are your role Models? E: I would say my grandmother(R.I.P), my mum, my dad, Eartha Kitt, Muthoni The Drummer Queen and Rihanna just to name a few. Pb:How will you be spending this year’s Christmas holiday? E: I will definitely be spending it with my family. Writing new songs for the new year and working on different projects both music and non-music related.

Tamer Hosny Sherif Abbas Farghaly is an Egyptian Singer , actor, composer, director and songwriter. He first came to public attention when he appeared on mix tapes with other Egyptian artists. Hosny launched his solo career with his 2004 album: Hob, becoming a successful singer of romantic music and was given the nickname “King of the Generation” by his fans. Tamer Hosny was born in Cairo to an Egyptian father and Syrian mother. He grew up with an interest in football and played the sport for five years. He had his first directorial experience in 2010 when directing his music video “Sa7eet 3la Sotha”. Tamer had a long-held ambition to become a director and to make his own music video. Hosny starred in the 2003 Egyptian film Halet Hob (A State of Love). In 2006, he was arrested for forging military papers to avoid serving in the army and received a one-year prison sentence, yet he only stayed in jail for six months. Tamer sang Bokra “Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)” a charity single that was released on 11/11/2011 at 11:11PM, along with Rim Banna, Akon, Diana Karazon, Marwan Khoury, Latifa, Souad Massi, Hani Mitwasi, Saber Rebaï, Kathem Al-Saher, Waed, Sherine and other Arab Artists. The single will distribute the proceeds of its donations to various organisations, institutions and charities with arts and culture programs. The eight-minute song was written by Majida El Roumi, and produced by Quincy Jones and RedOne. Tamer Hosny has recorded a new duet song with Shaggy, named “Smile”. The song, written and composed by Tamer Hosny, will be distributed all over the world. The music video has been released at the beginning of 2012; the music video was shot in New York City, and it has achieved huge success; it has achieved more than one million views in only 3 days on YouTube, and for this exceptional growth rate, YouTube awarded the music video a trending medal Tamer decided to make his Egyptian/Arab identity present in these collaborations, So he made Snoop Dogg appear in their music video wearing Egyptian traditional cloths known as Jellabiya and also wrote Snoop’s name in Arabic on the car appearing in the video. Tamer performed “Right Where I’m Supposed to Be” as the Official Song of the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in collaboration with Ryan Tedder, Avril Lavigne, Luis Fonsi, Hussain Al Jassmi and Assala Nasri openly presented by Public figure Hilal Al- Battashi.

Sunday 1st What Can’t Kill You Alliance Francaise, Nairobi. What Can’t Kill You hits on everything from the media to the millennials to permissive, yet over-protective mums, a mum whose daughter, bratty Boitumelo grew up to be a thoughtless, adult brat. The one discerning insight the daughter has in the play is when she identifies her mother as the one who rendered her useless due to the mum’s lack of enforced discipline. For a writer who has never worked in the media, Sitati has immense insight into how they operate. He also portrays the complicated relationship between parents and private school heads with acuity. 3:00pm & 6.30pm. KES 1,200/-
