Hero power The hottest game in dance is due out soon – and we’ve played it

n Start flexing those fingers: this October the most exciting dance music game ever will launch across all major platforms. It follows in the footsteps and format of Guitar Hero, the third biggest-selling franchise of all time (after Mario and Madden NFL). Swapping whammy bars for a sturdy wireless turntable and mixer (complete with crossfader, FX twizzler and ‘Euphoria’ button), DJ Hero players must thrash the coloured platter buttons in time with the on-screen vinyl ‘highway’ while sampling, cross fading, scratching and re-ee-winding their way through masses of incredible
pre-synced mixes. There’s a tutorial from Grandmaster Flash from his Bronx basement, exclusive in-game mixes from playable characters Jazzy Jeff, DJ Shadow, Z-Trip, Flash and DJ AM, downloadable content, off and online multiplayer (including DJ vs guitar action!) and licensed tunes from Justice, Gorillaz, Beastie Boys, Dizzee, Eminem, Jay Z, Blondie, Marvin Gaye, Cypress Hill and even Tears For Fears (with more surprises still under lock and key). The ensuing mash-up-mayhem should see even the most talentless cretin playing like a beat-juggling DMC champ. Retailing at around £99; www.djhero.com
