ARTS arts round the shire

2018

INDEX

Bass Coast Shire acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first Australians and recognises that they have a unique relationship with the land and water. Council recognises that we are situated on the traditional lands of the Bunurong /Boonwurrung, members of the Kulin Nation who have lived here for thousands of years. We offer our respect to their elders past and present and through them, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Bass Coast is home to a thriving arts community. The beauty of its natural environment, and the close proximity to Melbourne, attracts the creative spirit. It is also one of Victoria’s most popular tourist destinations due to the beautiful coastline, scenic hinterland and laid back life style.

BASS COAST YOUR ART COLLECTION PRIZE 2017

Bass Coast Your Art Collection prize 2017 Jill Rogers won first prize at the Bass Coast Your Art Collection exhibition with Acrylic on Linen canvas 'Minah Swansong'. This artwork is now part of Council’s art collection. Ursula says: “I like to put a feeling of adventure, history and narrative in my paintings and sometimes quirkiness. I paint unusual aspects of the Phillip Island coastal landscape and l am interested how we interact with nature and the weather and climate.”
