CREATIVITY IS ANYWHERE YOU FIND IT. It’s creating meets sharing. It’s expression meets conversation. It’s more than your camera. It’s more than your images. It’s Made in Polaroid.™

Welcome

For 75 years Polaroid has been recognized for creating artistic mediums used by professionals and amateurs alike. The technology provided instant results and true originals. The medium encouraged playfulness and technical manipulation. Creation of art was open to all. Polaroid has encouraged and partnered with artists throughout its history. When we came out with the Polaroid GL10 Instant Mobile Printer this summer, we felt that we were ushering in the next generation of the Polaroid instant experience. We couldn’t wait to get the product and this new instant medium into the hands of creatives to see what they would do. We wanted to know if we had succeeded in creating a medium for creativity that bridged digital and the analog print. We asked the question…“What could artists do with this new medium?” The concept was simple yet ambitious: 50 artists | 50 printers | 50 works of art – get 50 artists to each create a work of art using a GL10 Instant Mobile Printer. We exceeded our expectations with well over 50 artists enlisted across various mediums to lend their artistic vision. The creative brief given to each was simple; just use the GL10 Printer in some way. We didn’t want this project to have any limits. What we didn’t expect was the range, quality and diversity of work that has been submitted. We are truly humbled by the level of artistry and vision collected here. Taken individually each piece represents many diverse ways of using a simple tool and the power of instant imaging. Taken collectively the pieces represent a window into contemporary culture – a conversation with a common thread of this tool. This collection and show is a symbol of how the digital, instant and physical worlds can come together seamlessly; creating art that extends the boundaries of our expectations. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this project for helping to both define and illustrate the next generation of the Polaroid instant experience as well as sharing their work and vision. We hope you will enjoy this collection as much as us. Please don’t forget to bid on your favorite pieces. The auction proceeds go to an amazing organization in FreeArts – benefiting children through the Arts.

THANK YOU Thank you friends and patrons of Polaroid for your support in our pursuit to bring creativity and creative tools to the world. This art exhibit has been a labor of love and we could not have accomplished it without the support of Simon de Pury and his entire staff at Phillips de Pury & Company. Special thanks to Trish Walsh for her tireless support. We are honored to be partnering with Liz Hopfan and Free Arts NYC. Free Arts NYC is an extraordinary organization providing under-served children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs that help them to foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our wonderful sponsors & partners Chloe, Whistle Pig & W Magazine. Thank you to Pascal and the team at The Box—we consider you a wonderful new addition to the Polaroid family. Thanks to our partners at ZINK Imaging for supplying the artists with all of the media necessary to create these wonderful works of art. Thank you to Ari Emanuel and WME for their efforts. Finally, all of the artists who took the time to share their works and vision—thank you. This vision could not have been realized without your support, time and effort.
