David D’Ostilio Debt Dollars, 2011 Pen on $20 bill. 2 5/8 x 6 1/8 inches each.

The series titled Debt Dollars is first and foremost about money. Drawing world leaders on legal tender is the catalyst to get people to think about money in a broader context than the manner in which they earn it and where they are going to spend it. The intention is to think about America’s debt, who influences it? Who does it affect? How does one effect change? I have attempted this by going outside the law and defacing government property. The goal is to influence many people on an everyday level in a cheap and subliminal way.
