If Traffic Court’s President Judge Thomasine Tynes had her way, every driver in Pennsylvania would sooner or later have to face the Machine. The School District’s driver-education course relies on driving simulators to prepare high-school students for the challenge of a private driving instructor in a real auto on city streets. These simulators, which cost about $14,000 apiece, closely mimic the physical experience of sitting behind the steering wheel.
