Twenty-six members of the South Philadelphia Soccer Club (SPSC) stepped to the forefront of the international soccer community last week when Lincoln Financial Field hosted two quarterfinal round matches of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) partnered with the newest professional sports franchise in the City, the Philadelphia Union, to bring the international men’s soccer tournament to Philadelphia for the first SCORING AN ASSIST! In turn, volunteers from the local club each received a ticket to the matches and a commemorative staff shirt.
