The sound and safety wall, which spans from Christian Street to Porter Street along the deafening I-95 freeway, will yield near-silence as the final piece of the barrier project draws to an ended. The $5 million PennDOT project should be finished by the end of September, PennDOT officials said on Tuesday afternoon. State Sen. Larry Farnese met with PennDOT officials and community leaders for an update on PennDOT’s sound barrier project along elevated I95. “The issue here is safety as well as sound, and I think this project goes a long way in addressing the concerns of the residents in Pennsport, Queen Village and Whitman,” said Farnese. Residents asked for the barriers because of loud noises, vibrations, dirt and debris that came from the roadway across to their homes. (Cont. Page 2)
