The toddler was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver yards from his home over the weekend at the intersection of 6th Street & Washington Avenue. Columbus Day Parade Set For Next Weekend Philadelphia’s renowned Columbus Day Parade and Italian Festival will take place on Oct. 10 with an estimated 5,000 marchers including eight string bands, two service bands and several highschool bands. Homemade Vino And Biscotti by Maria Merlino The 14th annual Vendemmia, a festival dedicated to art of home winemaking, had a new twist this year, a biscotti contest! Mauro Castano of Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, NJ, made famous by TLC’s Cake Boss, was on hand to judge the entries. His wife, Maddalena and son Buddy were also part of the team. It was their first time at South philadelphia’s premiere wine festival, and they were very impressed by the event. “We’re really enjoying it”, said Betty Bove, who won with her Soft Biscotti with (Cont.
