Southwark Immigration Expert, Tsang Honored By The State

Keeping Seniors Cool

STATE REP. Kenyatta Johnson presents State citation to Asian community activist Van Tsang for her dedication and devotion to the immigrant population. “Mrs Tsang is a community leader who should be valued and supported,” Johnson said. “She not only helps the Asian population, but the entire South Philadelphia community as a whole.”

PHA Administrative Receiver Michael P. Kelly spoke to seniors at PHA's annual Senior Health Summit at Wilson Park. “PHA works hard to provide materials and resources so our seniors can acquire the quality health care they deserve,” said Kelly.

Another ‘Fine’ Mess Business Owners, Residents Hit By ‘Unfair’ City Trash Fines by Rory McGlasson and Maria Merlino

Small-business owners in South Philadelphia are angry at the City trash police, who are hurting local stores with needless trash citations. Many stores owners from Broad Street to Passyunk Avenue are getting hefty trash tickets for placing trash on the sidewalk at 5 p.m. closing time. The problem? 5 p.m. is too early, according to Dept. of Sanitattions, and trash should be placed after 7 p.m. However, business owners are urging the City to show some leniency. (Cont. Page 2)
