greetings Landscape photography is a genre intended to show different spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending, but other times microscopic. This popular style of photography is practiced by professionals and amateurs alike. From its beginnings and continuing into the present era, some of the most important and celebrated landscape photographers have been motivated not only by artistic aims but also by a love of the natural environment, as well as a desire to see it preserved.

Oleg Borodin Was born and raised in Moscow, in the nothern part of the city near the river port. This is probably the reason of my love for nordic-like landscapes, abandoned ports and winter sceneries. Since I can’t draw (and I wish I could) photography is the only way to express my feelings and thoughts. Creating images on film became a way to escape from the standartised serial production, with a photograph being more of a picture, a drawing, inspired from the inside, not the outside world. Started taking pictures about 4 years ago and have tested a lot of film cameras, both old and new, before I’ve tried to shoot with a square format. Once started I simply couldn’t stop. I think a square form is the perfect one for the images. http://odeonmelancholy.tumblr.com

Anne Pfaff Ever since I was aware of images, it fascinates me that time was kept on paper. My baby album which I read time after time almost falls apart. Born in the Netherlands, moved a lot as a child, I think that’s where I started to hold on to the memories with images. When I became 8 I got my first camera , the first in a row of different cameras that I used through the years. The last 4 years I became really addicted at making memories for myself in a creative sense of way. On the internet I try to expose my images to the world. In a smaller context I already had two exhibitions with my close friend in photography. The theme was remember my childhood. We photographed 3 schools which were closed in our neighbourhood. I also make commissioned picture for peoples. Sometimes it’s a wedding or portrait but I also made various stills. The stills I really like to do because of the freedom it gives you. The freedom to take your time and express your creativity. As an autodidact I read, and most of al I practice a lot! I’m a member of photo club. In this group of peoples who share my passion I learned that you always should follow your feeling. Of course the technique and composition are important but you’ve got to have the right sensation about your picture. I’m 40 years old now but I have the feeling my photography life already has just begun. There a world out there waiting for me to get capture on my sensor or film. So much to learn, so much to look forward to. I can’t imagine that ever stop taking pictures. http://www.imagecreative.nl/about_artist.php?member=327

Arngrim Larsen I am a portrait and art photographer from Gothenburg Sweden. I started to photograph about 8 years ago, I got a small digital compact camera from my parents and then started advancing through the years. Approximately 3 to 4 years ago I switched from digital and bought my first analogue camera. I fell in love and left the digital cameras behind. I then began shooting with polaroid film and began developing my own black and white rolls. I bought a 4x5¨¨ camera and that is where I stand now. I have always had an interest for nature and landscape since early years so it is a natural thing for me to try and portrait the environment around me, especially the nature. I see photography as an art form and not as a click, watch and show media. I like to my take time to compose my photos, measure the light and feel that everything is just right for the object I’m shooting. www.arngrimlarsen.com

Ulich Mueller Born in 1959, living in a small town next to Heidelberg in Germany . Working full-time as an engineer makes it difficult to find time for photography during daytime. Consequently most of the actual pictures are taken during the morning hours on the way to work or during business trips. Favourite photographic topics are clear structured landscapes with few graphical subjects, vanishing points and/or different points of view, but also abandoned houses and industrial scenes. My pictures can be found on Flickr and at Getty Images. www.aremac.de

Tom Kondrat My parents worked as freelance photographers, so I have photography in my blood :) I travelled with them every weekend observing how they shoot local tourist attractions, mainly churches, palaces and manor houses but also landscapes and events. At that time I found it very boring. Until one day they gave me a camera, Praktica B200. My dad just told me to make sure I shoot at 1/60s, not below and showed me how to focus. We were photographing some swamps on that day. I remember climbing on a tree for a better perspective, stepping on a snake and one particular frame with a birch tree almost falling into the water with a beautifully reflected light. I got that picture published in a tourist magazine and I even got paid for that. I was 12. More than 10 years later I picked up photography again, out of boredom. I was studying financial computing at Brunel University in Uxbridge and instead of attending the lectures and studying for the exams, I was exploring the area on my bike together with a compact camera. I soon developed an unreasonable passion for photography, upgraded my gear to a dslr, dropped uni, moved to East London and started my first photography course. After I learned about the composition, rule of thirds, use of geometry, decisive moment and saw photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson for the first time, I knew my life would never be the same again :) And indeed since then I started to look through the viewfinder in a different way. Two years of developing my style, coming back to film, completion of City and Guilds Certificate in Image Capture course, a few projects, exhibitions, many magazine features and one long, cold trip to Iceland later, I consider myself as a fine art documentary photographer. www.tomkondrat.com

Stephen Roxborough is a poet with a camera. Sky watcher for over half a century, He believes the sky, sister to the sea, is an ever-changing landscape reflecting the moods and attitudes of everything on earth. Born in New York, Roxborough makes few public appearances. Even his camera is semi-reclusive. He takes nearly all his photos from the deck of his house on Fidalgo Island. Here is how he describes his process: “I talk to the sky and wait for her to move the clouds into position for me. What I say depends on the weather, depends how she’s feeling and what I sense. I used to think I was just lucky, and had great timimg, but now I know it’s more about our relationship. I take my camera outside and encourage her, wait a few minutes, sometimes as few as two to five minutes and amazing shapes, colors, drama, serenity, animals, ghosts, rainbows, fairies, goddesses, devas, messages, texture and vibrations begin to happen. She enjoys seeing me on the deck. A wonderful, sensitive friend. Brings me light and form. First thing in the morning I come into the kitchen, drink a glass of water, pick up my camera, walk out on the deck in my underwear and take a dozen photos. I repeat this process throughout the day. The secret is to pretend you’re the only person in the world.”
