Promoting Recovery, Sobriety, Supportive Relationships, and Community Integration The Behavioral Health Services component of Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) manages 9 behavioral health treatment programs in the Delaware Valley. The mission of PHMC’s Behavioral Health Services component is to help people of all ages develop the knowledge, skills, and supports necessary to: recover from and manage emotional and behavioral issues; promote sobriety; choose and maintain healthy lifestyles; and develop healthy relationships with peers, family and the community. PHMC’s Behavioral Health Services programs work individually with clients to address all aspects of their addiction, mental illness, and/or abuse. Each program utilizes a comprehensive, holistic and culturally sensitive approach that focuses treatment on the emotional, physical, and spiritual effects of recovery from addiction or mental illness.

PHMC’s Behavioral Services Network: The Bridge is a JCAHO-accredited residential treatment program for 35 adolescent males with substance abuse and/or cooccurring mental health disorders. The Bridge also operates an outpatient treatment program for people of all ages, a homebased continuing care program for graduates of residential treatment, and a licensed private school that offers small class sizes, individualized attention, and hands-on experiential learning activities. 8400 Pine Road, Philadelphia, PA 19111

Bridges’ Step-Down is a recovery house for 16 women recovering from drug or alcohol addiction, and up to three of their children. Bridges’ Step-Down provides 24-hour on-site staff support and ongoing case management and life skills activities. CHANCES is an outpatient and intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program for up to 100 women with children. CHANCES provides comprehensive therapeutic, educational, and support services, including parenting, adult education and family literacy. The E3 Youth Opportunity Center, located in West Philadelphia, offers programs and services for out-of-school youth and youth returning from placement in a juvenile justice facility. The E3 Center’s services are designed to focus on Youth Empowerment, Education, and Employment, and includes ABE/GED classes, work readiness training, and life skills preparation. The Family Therapy Treatment Program (FTTP) provides home and office-based couples and family therapy to clients referred by the criminal justice system, Philadelphia Family Court, and a wide range of behavioral health treatment programs. Promoting Recovery, Sobriety, Supportive Relationships, and Community Integration Interim House, Inc. offers a continuum of comprehensive substance abuse treatment services for women, including a residential treatment program for 25 women with co-occurring disorders and outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment for up to 60 women. Interim House utilizes a holistic approach to treatment that focuses on the role of trauma in the development of addiction and the process of recovery. Interim House West is a residential treatment program for women with substance abuse and mental health disorders and their children. The program serves up to 22 pregnant and parenting women, and up to 45 children under the age of 12. Participants are offered a range of comprehensive services. The Joseph J. Peters Institute (JJPI) is a nonprofit mental health agency specializing in outpatient assessment and treatment services for sexual abuse survivors, as well as offenders, throughout the Delaware Valley. JJPI evaluates and treats children, adolescents, and adults. JJPI’s Prevention Program works to prevent sexual abuse before it occurs and to increase public awareness. WestHaven is a long-term structured residence serving adults with serious mental illness. WestHaven’s mission is to provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, recovery-oriented treatment. PHMC also operates the Clinical Evaluation Unit (CEU) of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s Forensic Intensive Recovery (FIR) Program, a prison deferral initiative that offers eligible offenders substance abuse treatment in lieu of incarceration. The CEU conducts assessments for chemical dependency of inmates who meet legal and clinical criteria, refers them to community-based substance abuse treatment programs throughout the City, provides case management services, and administers a community service program.
