About INTERIM HOUSE Interim House provides a continuum of comprehensive services to women with substance abuse and mental health issues that includes three levels of care: Residential, Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Treatment. Incorporated in 1971, Interim House is one of the first specialized treatment programs for women in the country. Interim House serves as a model for innovative substance abuse treatment for women.
Interim House is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Division of Drug and Alcohol Program Licensure. Interim House is a credentialed Community Behavioral Health provider.
ENROLLMENT Information Provider referrals are not necessary for enrollment at Interim House; clients may admit themselves. To participate in Interim House’s substance abuse treatment programs, clients must be women who are:
Dependant on alcohol and/or other drugs or have a recent history of substance abuse
18 years of age and older
Low income
Philadelphia residents
Hours & Appointments Interim House offers both day and evening hours, Monday through Friday, to accommodate clients’ schedules. Please call 215.849.4606 for more information or to schedule an appointment. Staff are available via phone 24/7.
Insurance Interim House accepts clients funded under The Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Service’s Community Behavioral Health program and coordinates financial support for uninsured patients.
Transportation Public Transportation provides easy access to Interim House. SEPTA Bus Routes 23 and H stop within blocks of the facility and the R8 Chestnut Hill West stops at the Upsal Regional Rail Station (Greene and Upsal Streets), also within walking distance. Transportation assistance is available. For more information, inquire at the front desk.

TREATMENT Philosophy Interim House utilizes a holistic, trauma informed approach to treating drug and alcohol addiction, focusing on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual issues. Interim House provides gender-specific, evidence-based therapeutic services to clients. The staff at Interim House are committed to providing treatment that is:

Designed to help women build skills in a variety of domains, including educational, vocational, drug refusal and other skills that help women maintain sobriety and self sufficiency

Residential Treatment Program Interim House provides a range of structured activities 12 hours per day in its residential program. Each woman is encouraged to develop the skills she needs to make positive changes in her life. Comprehensive services help women develop self-awareness, positive self-image and tools necessary to rebuild lives affected by addiction, psychiatric disorders and trauma.
Intensive Outpatient Program The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serves Interim House residential program graduates and ensures continuity of care. IOP services are offered five days per week. Services include individual and group therapy, life skills training, job training, case management support and housing assistance.
Outpatient Counseling Program The Outpatient Counseling Program focuses on helping women in recovery from addiction to drugs or alcohol maintain continuous sobriety, sustain a healthy support system, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. Clients in the outpatient program participate in both individual and group therapy.
