Spring / Summer 2018

To create a fully functioning outdoor brand for the 18-34 year old fashion-conscious female consumer. Conceptled performance clothing that will focus on technical fabrics and techniques but challenges the classic outdoor sports silhouette.

This brand will be cross purpose, intended to extend the use of the clothing across multiple activities. Print design will be used to add interest and uniqueness to the collection inspired by Japanese textiles and following the rules for design by Dieter Rams. Trips to Norway and Copenhagen influence silhouette and style.

There is a research report, marketing plan and textile portfolio to accompany this project.

Research and development. My time in Scandinavia inspired me to create a better alternative to practical clothing. This project takes inspiration from all kinds of outdoor sportswear, including vintage garments worn on famous expeditions. I studied current outdoor brands both high street and high end.

A mini collection designed for British brand, Toast. I chose to design for Toast as they share many of my design beliefs and aesthetics. I enjoyed using bright, bold and warm colours in contrast to my FMP.

My main inspiration for this collection was the art movement ‘Bauhaus’. This has always been my favourite of the art movements for its use of shape and colour. The opposite page shows research for this collection and print.

The brief given was usually a colourway or fabric and one or two research images.

Some of these designs were published in the Spring/Summer 2017 trend forecasting publication.

SPORTSWEAR

Made during my internship for Concepts Paris. Both these pages were created for a trend called ‘Soft Tech’ which was my favourite of the season. The mannequin illustrations were published in the Spring/Summer 2017 trend forecasting publication.

LINGERIE

Made during my internship for Concepts Paris. This page shows a selection of lingerie designed for Valentines day. Sweet, soft and pretty with crafted details. To look as light and delicate as possible was the trend at this time.

LINGERIE

Made during my internship for Concepts Paris. Inspired by many designers on the catwalk at the time and in particular, a beautiful costume piece from the film ‘Suffragette’, found at the ‘Women Fashion Power’ exhibition in the Design Museum, London.

CONCEPTS DESIGN FLATS

BEACHWEAR

Made during my internship for Concepts Paris. A capsule collection inspired by the Valentino ready-to-wear Fall/Winter 15/16 catwalk show. Rich tones and embroideries filled this seasons Beachology trend book.

FLATS

SWIMWEAR

Made during my internship with Concepts Paris. Also designed for Beachology, prints and swimwear inspired by 1950’s print design.

It was this project that sparked my interest in creating prints.

Spring / Summer 2019

A follow on collection from my final major project. This project shows how Vær could expand into menswear in the following year, using developed prints and a new yet complimentary colour palette.
