The message appears to be in Aranda (the language of the Arunta people), suggesting strongly that it has been written by one of the aboriginal residents at Hermannsberg to one of the Lutheran staff members who has returned to Germany. As such this is an extraordinary item as we have never heard of any letters written in a native language this early in the 20c Century.
